I love the improvement and growing maturity in Parker's game and he deseerved the championship MVP award. I'm not sure though he can ever win the regular season MVP. His strength is his offensive game but he'd need to average in the high 20s to even merit consideration IMO and this isn't likely in the Spurs system. Unfortunately, his stats for assists and steals don't really stand out.

If TP continues to improve and gets himself a 3pt shot, he'll be very good. But still far away from MVP trophy. Lebron and Kobe are the favorites if they managed to be in the top teams!

I'd be extraordinarily happy if Parker could make the All-NBA Third Team in 2007-08 -- that would be a monumental accomplishment for #9. No need to worry about MVPs, because he would be the most unlikely MVP winner ever. The notion that Finals MVP necessarily makes a player one of the very best players is silly -- ask Cornbread Maxwell about it.

Next year its Manu's turn. Although im all for Duncan's legacy to grow.

Ive always said the Finals MVP should be changed for Playoffs MVP. I mean, TP was awesome in the Finals, and in the play offs, and im happy for him and he deserved it - but we all know who the man was.

I do not see TP getting RS MVP any time in next 2 or 3 years. He is our 3rd best player behind TD and Manu.

RS MVP doesn't mean anything without ratings.

    It's all about the ratings!

RATINGS AND BLOODY NOSES...THAT'S PHX BBALL!

NOPE. Parker played one solid year. Thats all. In other years, he would be gone when pressure is on. Even this year, (against good opponents - forget about Cavs) it is Manu who would save us when chips were down. It is not parker.

Even Chauncey Billups was in the MVP discussion in 2005 and 2006 after winning the 2004 Finals MVP. I disagree that winning the Finals MVP does not qualify a player to be a RS MVP candidate. It puts you in the discussion at the very least.
Voters will be nervous to give another MVP to Dirk or Nash after last year. Lebron and Kobe are favorites, but if their teams have mediocre records it will hurt their chances. If Parker averages 22-23 PPG I believe he would be Top 5. Having Eva Longoria as a wife helps a lot too. Parker is probably on Entertainment Tonight more than any other NBA player.

Chauncey Billups was not in discussion in 2005. He was in discussion in 2006 because Pistons had the best record and their first half of the season was scary. It was not because of his Final MVP Status.
