Maggette Declines Contract Extension
September 28, 2007 - 12:39 pm
Orange County Register -
The Clippers' Corey Maggette will wait until after this season to decide if his future lies with the team.
Maggette is eligible for a contract extension, but he and his agent, Rob Pelinka, said they plan to let the Oct. 31 deadline pass, which would allow Maggette to opt out of the final year of his contract next summer and become an unrestricted free agent.
Pelinka said it is more prudent to wait until that time because Maggette, 27, then could be signed to a six-year extension by the Clippers or, if he decided to test the free-agent market, he could mull over five-year contract offers from other teams. [READ]

I didn't even notice that in the le. I guess I've just learned to read "Ducks" over the years.
Sort of like watching thisover and over. Sooner or later you just pick it up.
Sure, if you don't count the whole defense and effort part. Every NBA coach he's had has called him out about the lack of both parts.
Oh, and Magette doesn't even have a 3 pointer in his arsenal. He sucks from beyond the arc.
he's good, but not Spurs material....
research the years he had England as his personal shooting coach.
Then see how he was from beyond the arc, and how good he was.
im having a hard time finding what years those were exactly, but in an article from 2004, maggette attributes his improved outside shooting to chip, among others. so we can probably say that chip was there in at least '03 and into '04. if we look at both the '02-'03 and the '03-'04 seasons, maggette shot 35% (his career high) and 33%.
not exactly lighting it up even with chip. in fact, those number arent actually that much higher than his career average of 32%. so chip brought his outside shot from rather poor to simply mediocre?
We drafted Rob Pelinka? , that means we're a shoo-in to sign his client Kobe when he opts out next season!![]()
Pelinka also played with the Fab 5 at Michigan -- can Webber, Juwan Howard, and Jalen Rose be that far off? Maybe even some Jimmy King and Ray Jackson . . . .
Not hard to imagine Maggette opting out. He couldn't stand Dunleavy and was benched last year which is like benching Tony Parker. The Clippers are the NBA's league leader in futility.
Seriously. You think they could eventually get their crap together and become perennial first round playoff fodder.
35% ? Whatever. Research the fact that in 8 years, he's managed to play 70+ games only 3 times. I think he and Lamar Odom must have the same personal trainer.
He's got a lot of miles and a lot of injuries, and he hates coming off the bench. Next.
