    I really don't understand if, by now, we are over the salary cap or under...
    I mean :

    players gone

    1) we traded Butler (and Scola) for Spanoulis, but I still don't know if the salary of Spanoulis still counts in the cap (like if we waived him) or not (as if we mutually resolved the contract)...i think the most probable thing is the sendo, so his contract won't be paid by us and won't count on salary cap;
    2) we traded Beno to Minny for a second choice we'll never get, so I presume also his contract won't be paid by us nor count on salary cap;
    3) we just waived M. Williams, so I think that for a part, at least, his contract will count on salary cap.

    Players signed

    1) I presume we signed D. Washington with the minimum;
    2) we signed mahinmi for the rookie salary

    so, after all, I suppose we should be under the lux tax thresold...but I can't realize about how much we are (and, consequantly, hopw much money we could spend on a 15th player, in case we found one avaiable that we like).

    Does anybody have any clue ?

    Go to this thread : As It Stands: Spurs Salaries

    with great contributions of Bruno and timvp

    Tim Duncan -- $19,014,188
    Tony Parker -- $10,500,000
    Manu Ginobili -- $9,079,811
    Brent Barry -- $5,544,370
    Bruce Bowen -- $4,125,000
    Robert Horry -- $3,630,000
    Fabricio Oberto -- $3,500,000
    Michael Finley -- $3,103,000
    Francisco Elson -- $3,000,000
    Matt Bonner -- $2,700,000
    Ime Udoka -- $1,000,000
    Jacque Vaughn - $1,219,590 ($770,610 against the luxury tax)
    Ian Mahinmi - $625,840
    Darius Washington - $427,163($770,610 against the luxury tax)

    Spurs team salary : $67,363,429 against the tax for 14 players.
    The Luxury tax threshold is $67.865M, Spurs are $500K under it.

    If the guaranteed salary for training camp invite was below $75K, Spurs could have kept Williams and stay bellow the tax threshold.

    And IIRC, they can still sign Viktor Sanikidze and stay under the tax as well.

    I'm sure we had to pay Minnesota a bundle to take Beno off our hands. How does that factor into the luxury tax?

    Not at all. You can include cash considerations up to $3M into a trade that doesn't factor into your cap/tax figure.

    Don't unsigned first round selections count towards the lux tax (ie, Splitter)?

    With Peter Holt i wouldn't be worried about our(his) finances, he'll keep close tabs on it.

    No, the luxury tax is based on money actually spent during the season.

    Actually, it's not what you spend during the year, it's what your salaries add up to on the last game of the season.
