S.A. Ranks Sixth On Drunken List
SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio is on another dubious top 10 list, this time as the sixth "Drunkest City" in America, according to a national magazine.
There were over 5,100 arrests for people driving while intoxicated, according to the San Antonio Police Department, and more than 3,700 arrests through October 2007.
The list -- released by Men's Health magazine -- factored in: drunken driving arrests, deaths related to alcoholic liver diseases, the amount of people who have more than five alcoholic drinks in one sitting, the amount of fatalities involving intoxicated motorists and state efforts to curb excessive drinking.
Men's Health magazine used information from the Centers For Disease Control, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The report ranked 100 urban centers and three Texas cities ranked at the top of the Most Dangerously Drunk cities list. San Antonio ranked sixth on the list, while Austin ranked seventh and Lubbock ranked ninth.
Fines related to drunken driving arrests can range from $7,000 and up.

Now thousands of San Antonians are going to see this as a challenge to get their drink on, and move up to number one on the list. Great. Even more reason to stay off the roads after 7PM. It's already scary enough out there, even on a Monday night.
I am not as think as you drunk I am.
Here your reasons why.

I blame the Spurs for this. When they win, everyone celebrates the victory with a bender. When they lose, everyone drinks to forget the loss.
that noise.
They've obviously never been to Brownsville, TX.
It said drunkest CITY, not drunkest hole.
True.
It's more of a town. But, alcohol runs through the city pipes there. I actually saved my liver by moving up here.
