I was running a chain of records stores when "Thriller" came out. That solo was so well done, and using Eddie was brilliance on Michael Jackson's part. It let the single cross over into the rock charts. Not to mention the video and the big deal every one was from that album as they premiered on MTV. (Dating myself, remember, MTV was in its infancy then.)

I remember that the manager of my "punk" store came to my store asking to hear "Beat It." Just because of Eddie.
