Manu Ginobili scored 35 points, shooting 10 for 18 from the floor, in the Spurs' 98-89 victory over the Hornets, as San Antonio pulled even with New Orleans at 37-17. Get a load of how well Ginobili has been playing:

Ginobili, over his last five games, has now scored 172 points, while making 55 of 86 field-goal attempts (64 percent). Only one NBA player since the year 2000 has scored as many points with as high a shooting percentage over any five-game span; that was Shaquille O'Neal, who with the Lakers in March 2002, had a five-game stretch in which he scored 177 points while shooting 69.5 percent from the floor. That's it.

By the way, prior to Shaq, you have to go back to 1996 to find the last such instance of a player scoring and shooting as well as Ginobili over a period of five games. (Hakeem Olajuwon had 172 points and a 65-percent shooting stretch over a five-game span late in the 1995-96 season.)

Manu is playing like a man possessed the past few games. i just hope he'll still have some gas left in his tank come play-off time.

LOL.. did you see he's 0.91 pts/min. That's efficiency not even counting steals, assists and rebounds.

Actually, manu *only* scored 30 points against New Orleans on Sat. night...not 35. He's in a slump. Bench him now. </sarcasm>

    this is why he isn't a star..he isn't consistant enough. 5 games don't make a season.

Manu is a 25 PPG guy and the number one option on countless teams in the league. He sacrifices some of his game for the team with the Spurs.

Since he's been starting he's averaged 5 more PPG than his regular season stat of 20 PPG (which he's been making under 30 minutes)

Unlike the year's before he's been pretty consistent. (I think a lot of it has to do with Pop's bench strategy which divided TP and Manu's ballhandling as opposed to years before + Manu's jumper )

    Timmy is groundhog day.

Manu doesn't do well when he gets acknowledged by the mainstream media.

^that's what I was thinking . Last year he got the player of the week and ended up in a big shooting funk that lasted for a while. I hope this little funk he's in now won't last long.

Plus I don't think Manu likes the Mavs players very much, especially Jason Terry...with the whole "don't touch me"...

Yes. But also, teams are scheming to keep him out of the paint. Instead of forcing things, he's settling for the three. If he can keep up his three point shooting, he will be unstoppable come playoffs.

Also, with the return of Parker, Manu will have even more open looks come his way, coz we all know how good a penetrator Tony is!

Manu killed the Mavs last time we played them. I expect a repeat.
