Balls and Brains?
Here is the Mavs lineup when the spurs started making their 3rd quarter run (note: at the time of this lineup spurs were only on a 5-0 run) after that, we all know what happened
Stack, J-Ho, George, Bass, Dirk.

Damp was playing Duncan about as well as you can possibly play him. Which of course explains why he only got 24 minutes.
I think Avery is sabotaging his own job. He knows Popovich won't be coaching the Spurs forever and wants to get in as an assistant ASAP.

Next year Avery will be watching games on league pass like the rest of us.

I love how almost exactly 2 years ago, Mavs fans hailed AJ as the 2nd coming of Red Auerbach. Now they all, seemingly in one voice, have been calling for his axing for about 2 weeks.
Looks like AJ has more Nelly than Pop in him. Except Nelly could never beat anyone in the playoffs until he met AJ.
heh..Avery misses Del Harris cause without Del, he can't coach his way outta a paper bag.
If Avery is fired he will try broadcasting for a month and get let go for annoying the fans. Then he will sit around Houston for a year or two working with John Lucas until he stops getting checks from Cuban.
I wouldn't be so sure about Avery getting fired. It seems that Cuban reupped AJ to a new 4-year contract after the 2006 NBA Finals. Which means he's got two more years to go. Do you really think Cuban is going to pay Avery for 2 years to sit on the couch?

If Cuban thinks his team would benefit from a new coach, he will fire Avery. You think whatever Avery is due to be paid hurts Cuban's bottom line? He occupies a different reality than you or I.
2006 Forum. Actually, most Mav fans have been on the Fire Avery bandwagon since about December. The Mavs have deeper issues than just Avery, but there's a reason a large segment of the fanbase is clamoring for his dismissal.

That would be a disaster. I think Avery's personality would drive everyone crazy. He might have value as a scout, but don't get him near the players.
