No...no...shut up. I'm sorry, but, srsly, guy, STFU. That phrase, "look to close out" is, in my experience, common in elimination games that aren't game 7s.
Follow the script or you shall be punished with the Wrath of Stu Jackson.
I got this in my email from the NBA today:
Hornets-Spurs Game 6 Tonight on ESPN
Tune in to ESPN at 9 p.m. ET as Chris Paul and the Hornets look to close out
their series against Tim Duncan and the Spurs in Game 6.
No...no...shut up. I'm sorry, but, srsly, guy, STFU. That phrase, "look to close out" is, in my experience, common in elimination games that aren't game 7s.
They could have said, "Tune in tonight as Tim Duncan and the defending champion Spurs look to avoid elimination and force a Game 7 to be played."
That would have been an entirely different script.
If you don't think all of ESPN is rooting for "baby Jesus" i.e. CP3 to close out the Spurs, so they can lead with him 24x7 and pimp the matchup with Kobe, you're just not paying attention.
I am surprised they have not come up with breaking news of what Paul had for lunch today.
Dude, I know ESPN is rooting for CP3. I'm just saying. Paranoid much-ish?
i don't see why ESPN would give a about the WCFs, TNT has the exclusivity for those
Because ESPN has to talk about sports 24x7 on multiple channels, and they want people to listen, so their ratings go up, so that they can make more money on ads and cable/satellite fees. So they need what they view as "compelling storylines".
Having the actual event on ESPN is just a bonus, but is not necessary for them to have a stake in the storyline.
Sorry to be pedantic but I thought it was obvious.
CHRIS PAUL VS KOBE BRYANT
Is Chris mad that he lost to Kobe in the MVP Race??
Is Chris going to do what Lebron did last season and take his team to the Finals?
Tune in tonight as the Hornets play Game 6 (against the spurs)

the NBA wants the spurs to win tonight. they NEED a game 7 to make this interesting.
I am looking at the bright side, and found some reasons be happy.
1. Now when I go to Vegas for WSOP in June, I do not have to worry about missing any Spurs games.
2. I will have a lot more time to catch up on my reading.
3. I have more time to spend with the family and do not have to worry about my dates interfering with Spurs' games.
4. I do not have to watch Stephen A Smith any more this year, because I will not be watching any more ESPN.
5. No more trolls
If there's really a conspiracy to sunk the Spurs, the is going to hit the fan - I guarantee you that isn't going to go disappear out of the blue.
And the beat goes on.
Just got another email from the NBA. Could it be any more blatant?
1. Why is Chris Paul so Good?

Hornets, hornets, hornets. The love fest continues. The same thing happened to Reggie Bush.
Oh are you so wrong about this... if we get ousted there will be more trolls here than you have ever seen, at least since the Mavs knocked us out 2 years ago. That was a got damn summer of trolls here at SpursTalk.

You guys are some hardcore paranoid artists..
Since the "Refs favoring the home teams" for the NBA playoffs was the lead story on ATH, I imagine a crooked league would find no more golden opportunity than tonight's game to say "see, a road team can earn more free throws".
That should disappoint a large part of the conspiracy crowd.
Difference is Chris Paul has justified his hype. The same thing happened to Reggie Bush.
Spurs and Lakers would be a of a series and people would watch. What proof is there that Paul is a massively popular player or the Hornets are a popular team, i haven't seen any.
Better put your aluminum foil hat back on dude, I think the wavelengths are getting in.
If ESPN was in charge of things It would be Knicks vs Lakers finals every year.
Spurs will lose because I cut my hair today, and the haircut sports jinx is never favorable. Exhibit A., Tom Brady cuts hair before Super Bowl XLII, loses in biggest upset in Super Bowl history. . .
what a stupid thread...
