Rasho Nesterovic Exercises Player Option
May 16, 2008
The Toronto Raptors announced Friday that centre Rasho Nesterovic has exercised the player option on his contract for the 2008-09 season. Per team policy, financial terms were not disclosed.
Nesterovic, 7-foot, 270 pounds, concluded his second season with the Raptors and his 10th in the NBA. He appeared in 71 games (with 39 starts) last season, averaging 7.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 20.9 minutes. He led the team in field goal percentage (more than 200 attempts) at .550 (257-467). He scored in double figures in 17 of the final 18 regular season games, averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds.
Nesterovic has averaged 7.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in 699 career games with Minnesota, San Antonio and Toronto. He was a member of San Antonio’s 2005 NBA Championship team.
Smart move. He's going to be traded anyway.
timvp wins another bet. ploto le bet me that Rasho wasn't going to pick up his player option. She said he'd opt out to sign a long-term deal with the Raptors. I guess I know Rasho better.
The timvp vs. ploto bet details.
Hopefully she comes in to face the music . . .
He could be traded before June 30.
And no, I won't bet you on that.
Someone bet you he'd opt out? He's making $8.4M next year... he'd have to be crazy to leave that on the table, considering he's likely to average less than half that number when he signs a new contract. He's just much better served by cashing in his last year, and waiting another season for his last long term contract. It's a no brainer.
Good, they need a full time center, cause Bargnani isn't one. Sam Mitc has got to understand how to use him or else he is going to turn into Okur lite at best.
Why would anyone expect Rasho to sign a long term deal with the Raptors when they don't even play him in the playoffs?
I wonder if he'd go back to the Spurs after his contract is up.![]()
I am sure Sho knows what he is doing.
If he does ever get traded ( which for his sake, I hope not) fingers crossed it is to a good team out west so I can see him play more often.
+1 Someone looking for caproom in 2009 will pick up that contract just to let it roll off. See: Williams, Eric.
At this point, Rasho is an MCE or fractional MCE player. Picking up that option is a no-brainer.
the only way he plays well is on a team that he is the man in the middle
Ah yes, that contract he signed with the Spurs a few years back.... it's the gift that keeps on giving [/National Lampoon's XMas Vacation]
What's your all time record on that LMAO?
Don`t know, if this was already posted somewhere else, but, as expected:
