With the Cīs wining the NBA Championship, the Spurs remains as the Last West NBA Champions because the last three times that a Champions was from the West the Team was the SPURS
2003: SPURS
2004: PISTONS
2005: SPURS
2006: HEATS
2007: SPURS

You have to think despite the horrible schedule, the injuries, some calls/no-calls, and the age factor, the Spurs still made it to the final 4. I'm confident with the right tweaking (just a little bit) and treating the regular season with more care the Spurs can win it all in 2009.

No doubt left about just how far that team could go this year. They should enjoy success their as much as they can, it's going to take all summer if they do it right.
The Western Conference's best chance for another championship was left on the tarmac after game 7 of the Spurs-Hornets series. Tough break but life in the NBA is such that there is no guarantee, just guts and fire and desire.
