Kid probably pissed off the pitt bull.
WESLACO, Texas (AP) -- A 5-year-old boy has been mauled to death by a pit bull at the home where he was staying with relatives, said Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Hidalgo County Justice of the Peace Rosa Trevino told The Monitor in McAllen for its Thursday editions that the condition of the child's body suggested there was no way emergency responders could have saved his life.
Sheriff's deputies were investigating at the home north of Weslaco late into the night on Wednesday. The sheriff said deputies must determine whether the dog had been confined and how the boy came into contact with the animal.
Sheriff Trevino declined to identify the boy pending notification of his mother, who lives and works in Washington state. The boy's father lives in Mexico.
The sheriff said the boy had been living with his aunt and uncle after Child Protective Services placed him with them. The cir stances of that placement were not immediately known.
Luis Palomo, 20, said he was down the street playing football with friends when the trouble began. He said the victim was at home with a baby sitter when one of two pit bulls at the house began running around the front yard, getting a second pit bull inside the home riled up.
He said that the baby sitter and boy were inside the house with the second dog and were scared, so he tried to intervene. While he managed to distract the dogs temporarily, the boy wandered out the back door and one of the dogs grabbed him by the torso and dragged him.
Palomo said that the dog locked its jaws around the boy's neck.

Its just the owners not knowing how to raise these dogs. They are usually sweet and peaceful. They never snap and attack anyone.![]()

There is no such thing as a pit bull. It is a fictional breed.
I'm really surprised that something like this would happen in Weslaco.
I would think Weslaco would have rapid roosters looking for something to kill after a vicious fight.
Pit Roosters.
What's a rapid rooster?
That would be a fast rooster.
But, I meant rabid.
You are really good with the English language.
I really am.
A rapid, rabid rooster.
It's a bit of a tongue twister.
Edgar Allen Poe would've gotten that one wrong.
This coming from the guy that pronounced vegan VEEJIN.
I was pronouncing it the way the Indians do. It was an Indian chick I was talking to.
this saddens me I have the sweetest most loveable female pit she's afraid of her own shadow I just don't get all of these mauling stories wtf are these owners doing to these damn dogs?
Invariably the owners always say "it was the sweetest dog in the world."
The things have jaws like vices, whether the dog is sweet or not. ANY dog can get riled up, but I would rather have a chihuahua attached to my kid's ankle than one of these things attached to my kids throat.
They are like guns. By itself it isn't all that dangerous, but they do go off and kill people.
I would pay to live in a community where the things were banned.
lebomb and spurstalk getting sued now..
You daft... there is a lapse in their brain somewhere.. I don't know what to call it. No pit is immune from it. They all have some disorder where they could go off at any minute.
Your dog is a mixture of about 20 dogs man. I am sick and ing tired of pit owners saying nooo my dog is special my dog is different. Please just can it. Pit bulls have a chemical disorder or something I don't know but they ALL have it. Just cause yours don't show it doesn't mean it can't happen.
EVERY dog has this ability to maim or injure. Are we going to be posting all the stories of Doberman attacks or Lab attacks or any other big dog attacks?
Please.
Labs and Dobermans don't have the same capacity to injure/maim that Pits have.
We have a half pit half rott. Great dog I have no worries when my two years wrestles around with him. The dog and pig get along fine too. Some dogs might have the ability to be more aggressive or so forth I wouldn't argue that but upbringing plays a huge portion in whether that dog is tempted to attack.

LMAO......I read the attacks on those googled pages.......the other dogs Pinchers and Labs were running out in the open on the streets and attacked strangers. The pitbull attacks were PETS of the owners as well as ones on the streets.

I see it all the time. Stupid ass mexicans love to showcase their angry mean dog like its a piece of jewelry. Having the pup walk around with leg weights on and smacking it silly, taunting it, so grows up to be some crazy ass guard dog. Then we wonder why it attacks on the drop of a dime. There is typically a huge difference between a lab owner and some dumb pit owner. ing dirties love making their animals angry.
The American Temperament Tests Society (www.atts.org) ranks the American pit bull terrier at 84.3 per cent and 84.3 per cent, respectively, in terms of percentage passes relating to their extensive temperament testing.
This is higher than German shepherds (83.5 per cent), Rottweilers (82.6 per cent),Doberman Pinschers and toy poodles (81.6 per cent).
You are right, this is something you don't know. They have no such disorder and if you knew anything about the breed you'd realize how stupid your argument sounds. By the way, the pitbull is a cross between the English working Bulldog and the English working Terrier, hardly 20 dogs, man.
I'd like to know how many UKC American Pitbull Terriers are registered in Weslaco, Texas. I'm guessing very few. Wouldn't surprise me if this were not just another case of misidentification.
In the media the term is pitbull is vague and may include other breeds with similar physical characteristics, such as the Perro de Presa Canario, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, Alano Espanol, Japanese Tosa, Dogue de Bordeaux, Cordoba Fighting Dog, Bull Terrier, Antebellum Bulldog, Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog, American Bulldog, Boxer, Valley Bulldog, Olde English Bulldogge, Renascence Bulldogge, and Banter Bulldogge
