So Reuters would have a link.
Good or bad news? This had been rumored to be happening but Reuters is reporting it is a done deal.

Reuters is not Twitter. You need to get your story straight before starting a thread.

No need to fight, ladies. You're both pretty.
Thanks. That wasn't hard.

Disney sucks balls, they destroy anything they get their hands on
holy , this is crazy. i'll admit to being a SW guy but more importantly i'm pretty serious about cinema, so this is a shocking development. did not see this one coming.
"That's no moon...that's the Epcot Center."
Given the alternative of Lucas writing and/or directing more episodes, I'd call it a wash.
" Those are not the ducks you are looking for "
true, the prequels had major flaws, but least they felt like they came from a single source or vision, for better or worse. Now these things will have more of a committee feel, plus I imagine they'll start pumping them out like James Bond films. it will be interesting to see how this unfolds even from a financial standpoint, if the general public gets bored. though James Bond is still going strong so maybe not.
Disney buying 'Star Wars' maker Lucasfilm for $4.05B
LOS ANGELES – Disney is paying $4.05 billion to buy Lucasfilm Ltd., the production company behind "Star Wars," from its chairman and founder, George Lucas. It's also making a seventh movie in the "Star Wars" series called "Episode 7," set for release in 2015, with plans to follow it with Episodes 8 and 9 and then one new movie every two or three years.
The Walt Disney Co. announced the agreement to make the purchase in cash and stock Tuesday.
The deal brings Lucasfilm under the Disney banner with other brands including Pixar, Marvel, ESPN and ABC.
Kathleen Kennedy, the current co-chairman of Lucasfilm, will become its president and report to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. Lucas will be creative consultant on new "Star Wars" films.
Lucas said in a statement, "It's now time for me to pass `Star Wars' on to a new generation of filmmakers."
"Matata Hakuna, no worries means it."
No George Lucas should actually be a good thing.
Regardless, Disney could screw the next trilogy up and still make billions off of it, since its just Star Wars.
People will no matter what when it comes to Star Wars.
I'm looking forward to "Sith Family Robinson".
Holy they're gonna spam it.
No thanks.
Pirates of the Carribean were good films.
Last one sucked though.
The sequel stories have been published for awhile... will it be a matter of trying to select the correct ones? Or will Disney elect to create new stories and reference those that haven't been filmed yet (Truce at Bakura, The Courtship of Princess Leia, or even later sagas such as the Legacy of the Force series). Only time will tell. It will be hard to bring in Hamill, Fisher and Ford on board with any of the previously written sequels that require them to be as young as they were for Episode VI.
SEven better: A new Star Wars movie, Episode VII, will debut in 2015. More Star Wars feature films are planned after that.

How could anyone above the age of 10 be stoked about this?
Because it needs to stop.
the kevin j anderson ones were truly awful. the zahn ones were much better but they would probably get a hot Binks injection
Right, because only people under the age of 10 could possibly be fans of a movie that came out 35 years ago.
And btw.....frodo says hi.
Totally excited about these movies.....I fully expect to be disappointed, but I don't ing care, Star Wars is awesome and I just started introducing my kids to it.
