I've never listened to Miles Davis before now.
I can't believe what I've been missing. This music is absolutely awesome.
I love discovering new music to myself, because its like opening up a whole new world. This stuff is amazing.
Who else would you guys suggest for a newbie getting into jazz?
I've found I also like smooth jazz as well, really nice relaxing stuff.
So far all the jazz I've sampled on Itunes is GREAT GREAT stuff.
Can't wait to see the suggestions!
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" and John Coltrane "A Love Supreme" will get you hooked on jazz. Those two CDs are in constant rotation at my office and home. In fact the Miles Davis recording on this thread "So What" is on the "Kind of Blue" album.
You might also try -
Miles Ahead - Miles Davis
Blue Train - John Coltrane
The Yardbird Suite - Charlie Parker
Time Out - Dave Brubeck Quartet

Awesome stuff, just awesome stuff.
Im angry with myself for not discovering this genre earlier in life.
