I agree with this post. In the last 5 minutes of a close game, the Spurs are going to have Duncan, Bowen, Ginobili, and Parker on the court. The question is - who is the 5th guy? He needs to be a PF/C, unless were playing small ball. The Spurs have been looking for DRob's replacement since 2003. Rasho, Nazr, Oberto, Elson, KThomas etc. Now we have Oberto and Thomas, who are both SLLLOOWWW as snails. Their skill sets are too similar. Granted, if Mahinmi is really that good, he might be the answer. Also, I don't know who the Spurs could get and afford to pay. So I guess they re-sign Thomas and hope Mahinmi pans out.
Other than D.Rob name the last dominant low post, rebounding machine Duncan's played with? Rasho? Elson? Mohammad? It didn't matter too much when we won the two les without D.Rob. Don't get me wrong, a PF/C would be nice to get but it wasn't the reason we lost in the playoffs. We lost because as Brent Barry said 'We had Man but we didn't have nu.'
