Eh honestly, I would've stayed true and gave this guy what he wants if I'm Boston. Without him, they might not have another championship.

Free agent forward James Posey is still considering numerous offers, according to The Boston Herald.
His agent Mark Bartelstein has continued to speak with a number of suitors after receiving an 'unacceptable' offer from the Celtics.
The rumored offer is worth less than the $5.8 million mid-level exception and his desire for a four-to-five year deal.

guess they didn't learn from Miami's mistake....this guy might not be a star but he's a great role player, great defensively, and a great teammate...
Looks like they would rather use the MLE on Maggette possibly.
This has been known for quite a while now. That's why Posey turned their previous offer down about a week ago.
do they not have posey bird rights?
posey would not help heat make the playoffs last year
however he is a good player
man, he would be a perfect fit for the spurs.
high iq except for his loose cannon fouls once in a while.
I grew to like his play in the playoffs, used to despise him.
boston would not have won without him for sure.
unbelievably clutch 3 pointers.
they can sign Posey with the larry bird role and still keep the MLE
although posey is 31...he's the ideal bowen replacement. if the celts are stupid enough to let him go, i hope the spurs are in the mix to get him
No they can't.
If Posey can play the 'larry bird role' SIGN HIM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
not sure if posey would fit in...i suppose he could grab some of bonners minutes to learn the system, dont get me wrong i like poseys play as a whole...but someone is gonna lose minutes while this guy is learning...meaning we need some serious scoring from the starters, and thats imo where we didnt get enough points from...(unless manu starts of course)......either find another starter(not finley) who can score, cos fab, duncan, bowen, finley, parker just aint enough now days. or, (imo) go old school and find a big who next to duncan can compete with the duel bigs, the rest of the top tier west teams have...it aint fair, yao scolla, amare shaq a snaq, gasol bynum, oden aldridge, chandler west, heck even dirk diop, okur boozer, camby nene(martin) look better then...duncan and fab or duncan and 6'9 kurt...just not sure how posey would really help....
He'll be back with BOS unless they get Maggette.
Nope. Posey signed with them last summer, they don't have Bird Rights.
With all the Maggette-Rivers buttbuddy talk, I wouldn't be so sure Posey isn't feeling a little alienated from his coach right now. He was a key bench player, especially when they went small, in Rivers' first championship - yet Boston continues to garner Maggette's favor over Posey's.
Additionally, its not like they could offer Maggette a starting spot, or too many more touches than Posey already gets.

Nope. They don't have Bird rights, not even Early Bird rights. They have to use their exceptions or cap room, and they're completely capped for about the next 4 years. Ainge did a decent job of putting the team together, but this Posey thing is only example #1 of the team slowly coming apart. The primaries are all over 30, and they have no wiggle room under the cap, and damn little under the tax. The way the team was put together, their window was always realistically 2-3 years.
I'm doubting the Spurs make a run for Posey unless he sits on the market for a while. He wants the MLE, which is OK, but he wants 4-5 years, which isn't.
Clippers' free agent forward Corey Maggette reportedly has an offer from the Boston Celtics.
The Boston Globe reports that the C's have offered Maggette the full midlevel exception, worth around $5.8 million, according to an NBA source. The Celtics have also talked to the Blazers' Darius Miles, the Hornets' Chris Andersen, the Pacers' David Harrison and the T-Wolves' Kirk Snyder, the paper reported. Obviously, Maggette is the cream of the crop here, and might take the deal in hopes of winning a championship.

There seems to be a difference of opinion between the Globe on one hand, and the Boston Herald that has quotes from the Cs that they definitely have NOT made an offer.

ship sasha's ass out!
bring in Pos'
No respect for this guy. He has two rings.
yea hes definitely NOT worth the FULL MLE but i would like his fit to the team would warrant the MLE.
Oh, I'd give him the MLE...for two years. Doubt he'd take it, though. He wants 4-5 yrs.
