6'11? Hows he gonna play the 3 ?
A very Good player IMO
the spurs won't get him like batum expect if they move up
We don't talk about him cause we know he'll be gone when we pick but will be the perfect fit ( long 3 , versatile , can rebound , block shots , can shoot the 3 .....)
He's 6'9, and he's a very fluid athlete. He's a prototypical SF.
Curious minds want to know why the Spurs, picking at the tail end of the first round, are interested in Syracuse forward Donte Greene, a projected mid-first round pick? Racine Journal-Times

I just read it
Greene for me is probably the best option in this draft for sa
long 3 can do a lot of things on the court
the spurs will have to move up if they really want this guy
Very interesting. In the same article, they said that Warriors (pick 14) and Wizards (pick 18) are looking to trade their pick.![]()
Why wouldn't the spurs be interested in getting oneof the best SF's in the draft...But wanting and actually getting are two totally different things.
Why is a Racine newspaper talking about this?
He measured more like 6'9" in predraft measurements with a 9' standing reach and 6'10" wingspan (which is considered not that long).
Because he IS exactly what the Spurs need at the 3. Hopefully they are working on a trade to make it happen!
Dude, not that long? He had the 2nd highest standing reach of all SFs measured. Standing reach is the number that scouts are paying attention to now. Wingspan and height can be misleading, especially if the player has a long neck.
Don't complain to me -- DX lists it as an issue, although they like him. He simply doesn't have the tentacles some players have.
Yeah I saw that too and didnt get it. Im guessing the scouting report was written before the official measurements.
I wouldn't consider his arms to be stubby, exactly. Beyond that I don't really care: short and normal-armed players can be good, too.
I don't see how we can move up; I don't think we have anything to offer outside of the big 3 and Ian... Maybe Pop and RC have something up their sleeve.
Maybe the goodwill of Nelly and an abiding hatred of the Lakers?
Splitter + Cash + Misc Add On + Portland, Nuggets, or Suns = Not likely but possible
I haven’t bought into the "Splitter pick has no value” crowd yet. We are talking about a guy who in two years will/may (depending on who you talk to) join the NBA. What type of pick would he be in two years, top 5 maybe? So why wouldn’t a team (in the 13-20 range) that is in salary cap , or has too many young guns, or doesn’t currently have a clear need, make a trade for a future prospect with a high ceiling?
The Spurs have been quieter than normal during this year's draft process. Either RC is busy filling his new role as the Coyote's ringleader and doesn't have time ... or perhaps there is CIA activity going on. Pop being in town and granting an interview is weird, too.
Hmm . . .
They probably have metal detecting wands going at ATT and the practice facility right now.
Its CIA level orange right now.
Can the Spurs package the trade exception with cash to move up or is the exception not tradable unless it involves a player. Not very knowledgeable about the rules but can the Spurs use the exception to pick up a bad contract to sweeten a trade, even as a sid agreement before or after the draft?
They can only trade the exception by taking back a contract.
He would counter the Lakers long, athletic front-line of Bynum (7'0) at center, Pau (7'0) at power-forward and Odom (6'10) at small-forward.
The Spurs could then have Oberto (6'10) at center, Duncan (6'11) at power-forward and Greene (6'9).
Well, if they were going with a 'Greene' frontline then replace Oberto with Mahinmi (6'11") next to TD.
That is more like it! Much better than any line up with Oberto in it.
Now take that and add JR Smith or Kelenna Azubuike from FA and we are back!![]()
