What live games scams are to be avoided?
Obviously slow play-team play is irritating but i don't think most places will ban it. By that i mean arseholes who bet huge on the preflop just to get them and their buddees in, then check check check to the river as they are all sharing the money. That's b.s. I will not play in these games.
Crooked dealing, collusion and team play? Its not a typo. People have been cheating in live poker since the game was invented. If they're good you're not going to spot it and I doubt you're going to make a fuss at any of the underground games if you do notice it. Your best bet is to cash out leave and not to return.
It wasn't a typo and I'm not sure why you thought it was. There are dozens upon dozens of live "underground" games in San Antonio. I don't frequent them because there is a substantial risk of either being robbed at gunpoint (this has happend a LOT) and I'm sure there is a pretty good risk of me being scammed. The rake is also a at these games (LOL @ 20 dollar rake in a 200 dollar 1/2 NL pot) but the players are so bad that it can still be well worth it.Manny I think this may have been a typo, unless Texas features many "farm" poker games that Manny attends.

I've scammed Manny plenty, he's an easy mark.

Anyway - I don't have a clue on how to spot cheaters dude. All I know is that I've heard stories of certain games around here being scams. I just avoid places that I don't trust (which ends up being almost every underground game).
Manny also doesn't know how to spot better players, even when surrounded by 10 of them on a constant basis for hours at a time.

I haven't been to Vegas in awhile, but IIRC every table had room for at least 10 players (sometimes more) and a dealer... unless my math has gone sour, that equals 11
Most casino's I've been to play with 9 or if things are really crowded and every table full maybe max 10 and unless I'm crazy I'm pretty sure the dealers are not allowed to play, even at Native American casino's.
When playing with friends if there is more than 9 people we usually split it into two tables.
Oh, yeah I didn't mean to imply the dealers play... that would be kind of crazy. Vegas casinos, which I haven't been to in years, used to sit 10 or 11 at a table regularly.
Anyway, back to the point of this thread, which is that Manny sucks at life.
Dealers are more than welcome to play at casinos on there time off (Vegas) even at the ones they work at.

In Vegas, 10 player games is more common than 9.
The 5 and 6 seats split the dealer's chip box in front of them.

Six man games involve wayyyyyyyyyyy more poker playing than 10 man games do.
