The Chargers, Colts and Patriots are going to be giving handjobs for smack by the end of the season... I'm telling you people, the Raiders have got it in the bag this year but now that the Jets have Brett Favre and his NFL all-time interceptions record, they're going to win their division. Midge is right...everyone is will be caught up in watching the Colts and Jags battle for first that they won't see the Texans sneaking up on everyone and stealing the division crown when Tony Dungy's Alzheimers creeps up on him and he throws another meaningless Week 17 game when really losing that game means the Texans win a tiebreaker for 1st. And in Cleveland, Brady Quinn is going to throw 58 touchdowns...by week 5. Everything you knew about the AFC was a lie...like Santa Claus.

yea, they had a history. it involved them sucking, sucking, somehow lucking into a superbowl in which they got stomped, sucking more, sucking, sucking, getting into another superbowl that they got pounded, a few mediocre years, and then having a superbowl handed to them by the league, and cheating for the next several years to win a couple more.

the raiders never truly sucked until the past 5 years or so. before that they were consistently at least 8-8, and were often in the playoffs, including a stretch of 10 years in which they made it to 8 championship games, 2 superbowls, and won a superbowl in the process as well. 3 years later they won another superbowl, as well as another one 3 years after that. that is a of a run and stretch of excellence. and even in their down periods they had one season where they were 5-10, a couple 7-9 and 8-8 years, then were back in the playoff hunt and made it to another afc championship game (which might have been different had Bo Jackson not gotten hurt the game before). then another few years where they were consistently 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7, and one year where they were 4-12, then were back to being SB contenders again.

the patriots have had a very nice run as well over the past 12 years or so, similar to that of the raiders early run, but other than that, the patriots have pretty much consistently been irrevelant.

but im not going to lie, considering they are bound now by a salary cap, and with the parity in the league... that organization has change COMPLETELY and are doing a GREAT job of managing a damn good team and keeping them consistently in the Super Bowl hunt. IMO it is hands-down the most admirable stretch of seasons for any team in NFL history, when considering all things.
