of a race. That final leg was absolutely insane.
Always a good day to beat the arrogant French who said they were going to "smash" the Americans! Michael Phelps and co. kicking some ass baby! yeah!
By the way this was in the mens 4x100 meter relay in swimming.
of a race. That final leg was absolutely insane.
That was one incredible race! And they smashed the world record by 4 seconds! I was cheering and jumping up and down. It's great to be an American!
Would you really care about swimming if it wasn't for the U.S?
I haven't felt a rush like that in a while. That was awesome! Way to go Lezak.
No. But to me that is what makes the olympics fun, I will watch any sport as long as the US is playing.
that was one awesome race. It's that American Spirit!
the French...that was awesome...
Phelps celebration in slo-mo was sweet...![]()
The French will not taunt them a second time...

Is there a reason why I can't find any video at all from the Olympics?
Are they not allowed to show highlights?
Usa Usa Usa!
Pff as always your media reports bull . Bernard said something like with the level of our swimmers, our relay goes to the Olympics to smash the Americans, for the gold, the main point here is the gold, not smashing US relay, that was motivation, he only talked about US because he tought that was the team to beat (and he was right as you know). But of course for your medias it was just French Swimmers wants to smash US !
I guess it's better to be a chinese now
Official Overall Medal Standings
Why every US media sports site ranks country by totals and not by golds as the IOC does ?

Do you allow me to call that arrogance ?

Alain Bernard won the gold in the 100m.
A big shut the up in your face Lezak.
Why? What was Lezak saying? Bernard was the one talking before the relay. Lezak hasn't said a word, he just swims.
No. Just quit.
That's just plain re ed.
So he finally swam the race he was supposed to swim before?
He's a much better swimmer in the 100 free than Lezak, but the way I see it... it is
Lezak 1
Bernard 1
And Bernard is the one talking . That was his problem. By talking he put pressure on himself to back it up... and we all know what pressure does to Frenchies.![]()

then why did he say "smash the Americans"? Why not just say "we are going to win the Gold" or "we want Gold" or something like that? When he said "smash the Americans" he made it personal, whether he meant to do that or not.
First, Bernard never talked about americans, that's a lie. It is so not his personnality.
Second, with pressure on himself the "french" Alain Bernard won the most prestigious race : 100m freestyle.![]()
Is Phelps human? He just won his 6th gold in these Games.![]()
Because he said what he said only few seconds after french relay approched the WR, with passion and exitation of the race.
BTW, why nobody react on the fact that your medias ranks USA 1st on their medal counts whn you're 2nd ? And why do they rank you 1st ?
@ Americans trying to pretend their team isn't y as .
In Sydney The US mens swimming 4 x 100m relay team said they would smash the Aussies like guitars, but they ended up getting their arses handed to them by the aussies. It was awesome coz Michael Klim started playing air guitars on the podium.
The US team is the iest team around in swimming. That Garry Hall fella was a wanker.
http://209.85.175.104/search?q=cache...lnk&cd=5&gl=au
At the U.S. Olympic trials, the Americans started selling t-shirts which read: "Kangaroo - it's what's for dinner" then just before the Games began, Gary Hall goaded the hosts further by predicting the U.S. would "smash them like guitars".
The U.S. had never been beaten in the men's 4x100 meters freestyle final and were favorites to win in Sydney before Australian teenager Ian Thorpe reeled in Hall on the final few strokes to win gold and break the world record.
Michael Klim, who broke the individual 100 world record as the lead-off swimmer, ecstatically rammed home the riposte with a gleeful display of 'air guitar'.
Garrett Weber-Gale, the new leader of American freestyle sprinting, watched that race on television and while he admitted he loved the theatre of it, there was no way he was going to provide their opponents with free ammunition.
"I'm not into trash talking at all," he said.
That maybe true about when he said it and I understand that but you have to understand that he still said those words and those words will still be scrutinized, fairly or not.
The medal counts are for overall medals won, which currently the US leads 45-40 over China. China has more golds.
What you left out of the quote you posted was that those quotes were made before the 2000 games, not this years. Garrett Weber-Gale is more representative of this years team talking about not trash talking. The 2000 team was y and loud but it seems that the 2008 team is taking a different approach. Two different teams. You can't hold the 2008 team responsible for what the 2000 team said or did. Just because a few members of a team eight years ago acted a certain way does not mean every member of that team every year acts the same way. To do so is ignorant.

That's the point, golds are the most important, golds are les, Olympic Champions, and I'm a bit surprised that when the IOC, and the whole world outside USA, to established the nation's ranking ranks them by golds, then silvers, then bronzes, that all your mledias uses a different clue wich is totals, then golds, then silvers, then bronzes.
I may be wrong, but I believe they are doing this to keep USA at 1st place, when you're officialy 2nd (see IOC ranking in my previous post), and I don't have any clue to know why they are doing this![]()
