Um... I'm pretty sure Arkansas State has more quality wins that you guys this year, so I would slow down on the inferiority complex jabs.

A&M and Arkansas face similar challenges Saturday. On the heels of an underwhelming Week One, both teams have to go on the road and play schools from inferior conferences that looked pitiful in the face of superior opposition in their openers. Monroe was s ed against Auburn and New Mexico got knocked around by TCU. Not to mention both teams have one game's worth of experience under their new coaches.

I think both teams will struggle before getting close wins.

I don't think that's it at all, Mike. However, this is coming from the guy with the greatest penis envy of Oklahoma (the school) and Tulsa (the city), so I have to take everything with a grain of salt.

This coming from the king of having "a false sense of superiority"

Pffft... nice try at a dig, however baseless. Unless I am poking fun or being devil's advocate (which most posters around here simply don't get at all) I am completely established in what my school is. It is a middle of the road B12 football school, the second best historical program in a small state, one of the best basketball schools in history yet behind one in its own conference. I never claim OSU is a better football program than uo or UT. We can occasionally beat uo but we struggle to garner the same level of recruits. We have had some nice years in the past but the last couple have still been disappointing.

You can't tell me that atm fans don't believe that they are one of the best football programs ever and are still on par with UT year-in-and-year-out. They honestly do believe that. Everyone is calling this loss the most embarrassing loss in atm history when just a few years ago uo killed them 77-0.

Yes, I know too well OSU's current place in football and am not happy with it. That being said, a loss at Troy is not a loss at home to arKy State.

When you're funny I'll let you know. I have A&M fans in my family therefor I like to spread the smack talk around. And Husker fans too.

That reminds me of T Park in an argument. Weak and easy. Try harder.

Same reason Arkansas doesn't play ASU. But that's likely to change here soon.

Forgive my lack of exact Okie/Arkie-centric geography, but here goes...

I thought Stillwater and Tulsa were pretty close to each other (less than 100 miles), like about as far away as Fayetteville is from Tulsa. And I thought (from when UT played them) Arkansas State's campus was over by Memphis.

Just seems like a natural rivalry, but I guess you don't see Texas scheduling Texas State just because the campus is nearby.

Some A&M fans think that way, just like some Okie State fans aka Boone Pickens think they're the greatest athletic program known to man.

A&M will never = UT but we can still have high expectations for our program. 10 years ago we won the Big 12 and have gone to the ter since, so god forbid fans have expectations of getting the team back to that level. A&M has the fanbase and resources to be a top program, but it'll probably never consistently be one and that's fine with me. Losing to Arky State at home is inexcusable but whatever I'll live. We're a basketball school now anyways...*sarcasm*

Both OSU and uo have 2-for-1 deals with Tulsa. OSU's last one ran out in '04. uo played at TU last year. TU will be @ uo in '09, @ OSU in '10, in '11 have OSU at home and @ uo, then be @ OSU again in '12.

I think TU also has a 1-for-1 with ttek upcoming.

Well Broyles didn't play ASU because of was afraid of getting beat. He wanted Arkansas to be Arkansas' team and never wanted to hurt that by getting beat by some smaller ASU school in the state. However I do think it happened once a long time ago.

Fans want to play ASU and the new AD is going to deliver that I am sure. ASU is wanting it bad, they always have.

So I assumed that's why they don't play Tulsa. They want to hold their firm grip on whatever they currently have.

You're right about where they are. About 100 miles NE of Little rock and about 50 or so NW of Memphis.

I became an A&M fan this year becaues my nephew just started there. My other team is Baylor so I could really care less if the Aggies win or not. I'm grateful that the one team I live and die with wins on occasion.

Basically, you're saying that if you were playing an actual school instead of WIU last week, you probably would have lost... which would have made Petrino resign to take the Hawaii job.

there is more to it than this, but A&M is a top program...and at least they've won a football national championship and been in the running for others in various years. yeah, we haven't been good in a while, but that doesn't change the fact. and i don't know many Aggies that think their program is better than t.u.'s, but that doesn't mean we can't compete with them. in fact, with the talent, fan base and resources...i don't see how we aren't more compe ive. underachievers, i guess...
