I am having trouble deleting a folder within my External HD.

Everytime I highlight the folder or right click it simply freezes the external HD window completely. So basically I cannot manually delete it.

I have not done any backups nor did I want to. I have a lot of important files on the external HD, and I do not want to mess around with backtracking and old backups.

I just want to delete that folder somehow. Anyone know of a way I can get around this and delete the folder in some other fashion?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Is it a Windows filing format?

Right click and then hit properties to check if the folder is write protected.

Other than that, try scan disk, defrag, or run any utilities that came with the drive.

Try creating another folder with the same name and see what happens.

Try removing any files from the folder first. Then delete the empty folder.

    Run a virus scan.

Buy another of the drives from Best Buy. Copy everthing to the new drive an return the old drive in place of the new one.
