Military does not want official uniforms/apparel falling into the wrong hands for security reasons. It makes a whole lot of sense actually.
I recently picked up a load at Ft. Bliss bound for Ft. Sam (DRMO).
It filled up a 57' trailer and looked to be cases and cases of clothing: coats, parkas, pants, underwear, etc... Pretty much standard uniform stuff.
As the guy was loading it, I noticed the parkas (several of the cases were marked "Cold Weather Parkas") and jokingly asked him since they were shipping cold weather parkas to San Antonio, did they know something I didn't? He responded it was a bunch of "out of date" stuff and was scheduled to be destroyed.
Seems to me like there's a whole ass-load of people in southeast Texas who just lost everything to a big ol' storm that could make good use of that stuff (well, maybe not the parkas...). I'm just sayin'...
