That team had a great frontcourt...this one does not.
98-99 Redux? (spurs were 6-8 10 yrs ago)
Remember back 10 years ago?
The Spurs started 6-8.
Then they finished the season 31-5.
Then they went 15-2 in the playoffs.
The Spurs finished 46-5, the most devastating 50 game stretch in NBA history.
The Spurs can do this again, when Parker, Ginobili, and the rest of their injured players come back.

I fixed the test, but can't fix the le. It was 10 years ago. We got Mahinmi on the way.
I guess I can fix the le.
We will with Mihinmi. He will be an all-star.
Yoda is really really really concerned about the front court. Were obviously set at gaurds, but that front court beyond duncan looks bad.
Thomas- is the man hurt or what? looks almost useless.Scary part is we got him for another year too. someone tell me he is hurt or something.
Bonner- D is better, but far from where it needs to be. A rebound or 2 might help. Anyone think Pop giving bonner minutes to set him up for a trade later on????
Tolliver- Takes Bonner's min and does well, then we never see him again except for spot minutes.what gives??
Oberto- This gonna sound wierd, but is he to team orientated? God, sometimes I just want him to drive when he gets it in the blocks, but he so much into pass first. arebound or 2 would help here too. solid, but still dont know what to think about him. Has good and bad stretches.
Ian- Anyone remember him? sigh, a year in D league should have been enough. We never saw tony there. Im starting to wonder if he will ever make the team.
Conclussion- Even with Tony manu, Mason and solid play from fin and hill, what good it is if out front court sucks?? Timmy cant cover all over the place.
Im hoping Pop setting up something for a trade, but how knows.
I have hopes about Free agent Antonio, but who knows. I also would like to know who is even reachible for big men.
Would love to hear from TIMVP on this.
If you're looking for more historical precedent, the Spurs also started 1994-95 at 7-9 and went 55-11 the rest of the way to finish at 62-20.
For that matter, the 02-03 Spurs started out 10-7 and finished at 60-22; the 03-04 Spurs were actually 9-10 and finished at 57-25; oh, and last year's Lakers started out 9-8 and finished with 57 wins, too.
Oh that the league would let the Spurs go back and redeux those games with a healthy roster!
Those are some good stats. I believe the 1977-78 Super Sonics started the season 5-17 and went to the NBA finals.
The went 42-18 after Lenny Wilkens took over, and then went 13-9 in the playoffs, for a finish of 55-27. Then they won the NBA le the following season, going 52-30 in the regular season and 12-5 in the playoffs, for a total of 64-35.
The Spurs will be LOADED with Ginobili, Parker, and Mihinmi. All our below average starters right now, will be above average back-ups.
Remember, Mihinmi is being taught the tricks of the trade by Tim Duncan and CIA Pop.
WTF are you talking about? Bonner had 8 boards last night (four offensive), first and foremost, and has had more boards than any big save Tim every night he's gotten PT. Not only this, Tolliver hasn't been in the flow of the offense or, especially defense for several games now.
What gives? Why don't you look at some facts before you ask?
That is when we were the best defensive team in the NBA. We arent anymore we need to get players to get us back to those days.
WHOLE different team. That team didn't suffer from injuries. They had new player they were implenting: Mario Elie and Jaren Jackson. Plus the lockout shortened training camp.
I'm testing out my new signature.
This is what I think of Joey Crawford!
No comparison. Why are we talking about the asterisk season?
I don't see how its an asterisk season when every other team had the same advantages the spurs had. Of course its pointless now with 3 more championships.
More hater material.![]()
They were so good, Stern just gave them an added W.
Why would there be an asterick? The playoffs were not truncated.
