If you are in Texas you don't have to have a license to own a gun. If you buy ammo that works in a pistol (like the .38) you have to sign a form that you are legal to purchase ammo.
So my friend sold me his 38 caliber revolver gun and i dont have a license to own a gun but my question is does anybody know if you have to have a license to purchase bullets/ammunition from a store?
thanks

but do they require license proof when you purchase ammo?
He just said you didn't need a license in the first place...
What makes you "legal" to purchase ammo?
You guys are being harsh. CC said he didn't need a license for the gun. Then xtremesteven asked about whats required for ammo. That part seemed unclear to me, too. WHat makes you "legal" to buy ammo if not a gun license?
thanks man![]()
Thats where state law and federal law cross over. It's a fed law that you can't be under 18, a convicted felon, or crazy and buy pistol ammo. You have to sign a form that says you qualify...the store that has you fill out the form keeps it for a year and then throws it away.
what are you going to shoot?
are these uranium tipped bullets
I heard he was going to go around shooting Pitbulls.

I'm surprised Norcal hasn't commented about his guns.
How nice of you to put them out of their misery.
You know what? I'm going to buy you a box.
I've been living in TX 35 years and never knew you had to do anything special to buy handgun ammo (other than be old enough)
there's laws to buying ammo? ive never had to sign anything or provide anything to them... not even ID.
and im pretty sure i was buying shotgun/rifle ammo since i was 17ish, but maybe the rules only apply to pistol ammo. .357 cartridges are too damned expensive so i never really wanted to shoot.
The law is 18 for long gun ammo and 21 for pistol ammo.
Damn...foiled yet again.![]()
