What is the story on this guy? Last I heard he signed with the Grizzlies. Wasn't he supposed to be the next Yao Ming? A beast in the post? Where is he and when is he supposed to come over????
NBA's Memphis Grizzlies sign Iranian center Hamed Haddadi
The NBA's Memphis Grizzlies recently announced that they signed a contract with 7' 2" Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (also spelled Ehadadi). Haddadi led all 2008 Olympic basketball players in rebounding and blocked shots while playing for Iran's national team. Terms of the deal with the Grizzlies were not disclosed.
As we previously reported, on August 20th the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a specific license authorizing NBA teams to enter into negotiations with Haddadi and one of his teammates on Iran’s national basketball team.
If Haddadi makes the team, he will be the first Iranian player to play in the NBA.
The 23-year-old Haddadi spent the 2007-08 season playing for Saba Battery BC in the Iranian Super League.
