LOL. The last time I went...like 10 years ago...my cousin and I were sitting at the roulet table and convinced some arab dude to bet on a number...we were egging him on...a bunch of us...and he did it and lost $400 on that one. We all kinda turned around like we had nothing to do with it. The guy was pissed off and walked away. It was one of those "Wanna get away?" moments. Hi-larious.

Stay somewhere in the center of the Strip. It's so much more convenient than being near the ends and having to taxi/tram everywhere. You shouldn't worry about how awesome the room is or anything. Most rooms are pretty standard in Vegas, unless you get a suite. You probably won't sleep much, so as long as it has a bed and a pillow, you are good.

we're staying at bally's....free room but i hear that it's in a great location...we're not doing any shows or clubs...we're going just to get drunk and gamble...not in any particular order though...infact i hope we don't get drunk before we gamble.

For Poker if you are a tourney player checkout the Sahara tourneys they offer some of the best value for low buy in tournaments $45 with on $20 rebuy. You get $4000 chips, $2000 extra with the $20 rebuy, can reenter if you bust out in the first hour, fields typically 100-150 players on friday and saturday nights. They have 3 per day, 11am 7pm 11pm.
