Another Spurs player is headed to Phoenix for this year's All-Star festivities.
Roger Mason Jr. has been invited to participate in the 3-point shootout, multiple NBA sources have confirmed.
Mason is the only player in the league to rank in the top 10 in both 3-point percentage (44.9) and 3-pointers made (97). He will vie to become the first Spurs player to win the 3-point event.
In addition, Tony Parker has drawn an additional All-Star weekend chore as well. Already set to play in the game as a Western Conference reserve, Parker will also participate in the skills challenge event, league sources say.
The Spurs are also expected to defend their le in the shooting stars compe ion, an event won last season by the trio of Tim Duncan, David Robinson and Silvers Stars player Becky Hammon.
The field for these events will be officially announced later this week. The compe ions will be held Feb. 14, the Saturday night before the All-Star game.
Congrats to Roger! I guess no Matt?
Awesome, i look forward to seein TP in the skills too.
Holy sh!t, Pop has transfigured Ma$on:
from a nobody @WIZ,
to a starter @Spurs, and
to a 3G shoot-out "contenda" @All-Star weekend.
Nice goin', Front Office!
Go Roger Go
I'm more interested in the Shooting Stars compe ion. Three-peat coming.
Interesting to see if Roger does the typical Spurs 3pt shootout contestant routine and shoots horrible.
Best of luck to him, the man can shoot, and with his release he should be a good chance to race through the racks. Go Rog!
Happy for our two Spurs selected for weekend activities, but I would LOVE to see Manu in the skills challenge. Can you image him passing behind the back to hit the targets?![]()
Is George Hill playing in the Rookie vs. Sop res game?
im happy for mase but i hope he doesnt miss too many 3,s
An average foreigner like manu who speaks english as his seacond language can easily speak out a sentence which is made up of 10 words or more, so the summary is: you < Manu's wife or any other lover of his
Don't know how anyone forgets that first one where everyone hit their very first shot and set some kind of record.
Mason has a good chance to win it. He has a super quick release. I think Bonner's release is too slow .. he might not even have finished all the racks.
How can it be a 3-peat? The Spurs didn't win in 2007. They won in 2006 and 2008.
Mason is the mother ing . Go spurs. I will be cheering for Mason on All Star Weekend more than I will cheer for the two fundamentals during the actual All-Star Game.
FWD or timVP, anyone got the history of Spur players in the 3 point contest? I don't think we've ever won it.
Go mason!!!!!
No, they have never won it.
