DJ Strawberry got waived from the Rockets, sign him up and buy out Vaughn.
As a result we'll have the DJ and the Hill fighting for the back up PG position. We'll have some youth and alot of potential in our back court.

so you want 2 unprovens to backup tony instead of having at least 1 veteran. potential is all well and good but you still need a reliable fallback if potential turns into a dud.

I think DJ's a good player. I'm not sure how he manages not to stick anywhere.

That said, if the Spurs are going to buy out JV, I'd much prefer they did it for a legit shot blocker or defensive long three.

If JV gets shipped out (how isn't the point here) where is the experience at backup PG that Pop needs/wants? Not going to happen. As much as we Spur fans want more younth of this aging team I can't see Pop having 2 young inexperienced PG's behind TP. As stated previously the Spurs run a motion O and a complex D - how are these two guys going to pick this up and be able to give TP the rest needed during the season much less come playoff time? IMO this would be a recipe for disaster seeing how I think TP would end up playing more minutes - either b/c the backups don't get the job done or Pop feels uncomfortable playing them exended minutes - though personally I'm not a fan of JV but what realistic option do we have to fill his slot?

That Pop would sign on to that is.

You got to start somewhere. I can guarantee you that it will be more of a success then the JV, Hill combo. C'mon let's get serious here J.V brings nothing to the table. Plus you won’t have J.V taking Hill’s minutes. We’ll at least have two solid back up PG that will bring something to table. So we can only get better as a result.

I'm sure the Spurs will give your guarantee the full attention it deserves.

Tony Parker started PG as a rookie, it's not like we need these guys to start, all we need from them is a solid 10-15 minutes a game and they're only going to get better as the season goes on. Any one would be an up grade over Vaughn. Come on, it's common sense.

If they have some common sense thats exactly what they'll do, it's what's right and good for the team going foward.

Enjoy watching J.V taking Hill's minutes and throwing up bricks while the D.J drills jumpers for another contender.

Another contender? Like the Suns or Rockets, who both cut him?

DJ had a rock solid preseason and he would definitely make the Rockets roster had Von Wafer not have a monster preseason

OP obviously doesn't understand how you construct an NBA roster.

    m33po does.

And besides, our real need right now is a long, athletic 3. That is what Bonner should be traded for, if possible.

The Spurs aren't bringing in any new raw players who don't have a clue about the system. Recognize.

DJ Strawberry is hardly a PG.

Besides, his jumpshot makes Vaughn look like Kobe Bryant offensively.

The Suns cut him because they signed Dragic becasuse they think he's Nash's future replacement and the Rockets cut D.J because of the emergence of Von Wafer. That's two unfortunate situations and any Rocket or Suns fan will say the D.J has been unlucky.

Hopefully some one from the Spurs organisation reads this thread and acts. But these days, If you wanna get done you gotta get it done yourself.

Regardless of cir stance, the fact remains that two teams who have yet to get over the hump and are looking for that extra push to attain the championship did not consider him for their team.

I'm still not seeing your argument for him.
