    Ginobili out tonight, possibly longer
By Jeff McDonald on Feb 17, 2009

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili did not travel with the team to New York for tonight's game against the Knicks, opting instead to remain behind in San Antonio for testing on a sore right ankle that had been bothering him since before the All-Star break.

Ginobili will undergo those tests today. If the results are negative and the soreness subsides, it is possible he could rejoin the team in the midst of their three-game road trip, which continues at Detroit on Thursday and Washington on Saturday.

The good news for the Spurs, and for Ginobili, is that the soreness is not in the same ankle he had surgically repaired over the offseason.

Talents aside, this might explain the substantial reported interest in Carter . . . .

I wonder if he has the same problem in that ankle that he had in his left ankle? If so, the Spurs can say goodbye to any playoff aspirations.

Could he have been over-compensating for his left ankle during his return? This sometimes happens when athletes over-stress their good side.

At least it's his other ankle ...........

Weird that he was having problems with it since before the All-Star break, especially since he was playing his best basketball of the season right before the break. I wonder how long it's been an issue.

But yeah, if this is an injury that could linger or is serious in any way, getting Vince Carter suddenly makes a lot of sense. With no Ginobili, the Spurs have no shot a championship. Carter in addition to TD and TP the Spurs probably don't win either but at least there's a chance.

true. When I hurt my ankle, after recovery for some reason my other ankle keeps hurting.

I am 99% it's nothing major though. he will be out 1-3 games

Get Carter, rest Manu and go into the playoffs with TD, TP, Carter and Manu healthy... if all goes well.
