    I'm just wondering...

Does anyone know the record for most 3 point attempts by a shooter who shot over 50% from the field?

I would guess the potential candidates for owning this record would be Michael Jordan, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion, John Stockton, Jeff Hornacek, and uh...Vinny Del Negro....Dark Horse candidate is Steve Kerr(who shot over 50% from 3 and was pretty prolific)

Pretty sure all those guys have shot over 50% from the field...and they also likely shot a lot of threes while doing it.

That's one of the records Brent Barry holds and Bonner isn't going to break it. Nice job pulling out the Barry card . . .

A record Bonner might break is the most three-point attempts by a player who shot better than 50% on threes. Current record holder is Tim Legler with 245. If Bonner can get his percentage up over 50%, he's actually on pace to break that record.

Highest three-point field-goal percentage, season (qualifiers)
    .524-Steve Kerr, Chicago, 1994-95 (89/170)
    .5224-Tim Legler, Washington, 1995-96 (128/245)

bonner is actually only .497%, not quite 50%; up this point in the season, he is 84-169

Ray Allen is shooting 49.1% from the field this season whilst shooting 6.0 3PTers a game... So he is going close, and 6 attempts per game would have to be the record.

Jameer Nelson was shooting 50.3% from the field this season whilst shooting 4.3 3PTers a game.

Steve Nash shot 50.4% from the field whilst chucking up 4.7 3PTers a game.

Barry holds that record? No ?

I swear I didn't know that. I didn't think he ever shot enough threes.

Put it this way...if Barry does hold it Bonner has a very good chance of breaking it. I just looked it up and Barry shot 234 threes in a season he shot over 50% from the field. Bonner has shot 169 threes already this season.

<<<<has not jocked Barry all season. Barry left the Spurs to go play for the Rockets and stand in the way of a Spurs le. Barry. He chose to be the enemy. Can I make myself any clearer?

I think he's got a better chance of attempting 234 threes this season than he does shooting over 50% from 3. He only needs 66 more 3 attempts to beat Barry's mark.

And I don't think Barry has that record BTW.

Bonner is beating Nash and Nelson...and Allen still has to get his PCT over 50%. It's not going to get any easier with Garnett out.

I still want to know who holds the record for most threes attempts(and makes as well) while shooting over 50%. I don't think it's Barry.

Damn, Peja went close. 48% from the field whilst shooting a ridiculous 6.8 3PTers. That's some shooting.

the record for makes while shooting 50% from the field should belong to nash for last season, with 179 makes. barry made 164 in his big season.

Damn I saw him shooting 4.9 per game. Maybe I was looking at the FT again.

I swear dude you're giving me too much credit. I never knew Barry took that many freaking threes in a season. I never thought of him as a prolific shooter. Ever. Brent was an extemely efficient shooter...nothing can change that. I'm sorry he was that good. But I swear I didn't know he held that record.

You looked at the wrong column. Barry shot 234 free throws and 387 threes.
Seriously..dude had to be forced to shoot a hundred threes per season at gunpoint in a Spurs UNI...he once took 387? That's hard to believe.

I wanted Bonner to get that record...

Scola argument > Barry defending(especially now that he's with the Rockets)...get serious.

Just checked it, 14 FT's all season. That's a weird stat in itself.

Thanks for the awesome stat research SS...I appreciate it. I never realized Reggie had that many seasons over 50%...I didn't think he had any. That Nash would be in the debate is a no-brainer though.

Is Bonner in the running for the front court record?

Last time I checked, he was on pace to top Rasho's record of fewest free throws per minute
