Oden nearing return
Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, who will miss his 12th consecutive game tonight against Dallas, is starting to see marked improvement in his left knee, which was chipped on Feb. 12 in a collision with Golden State's Corey Maggette.
The Blazers training staff was ecstatic with Oden's workouts on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, saying they were by far the best he has had since the injury.
"He's getting close,'' a source said.
Oden will not play Friday against New Jersey, but the team has already committed to bringing Oden on the upcoming five-game trip, which starts Sunday in Atlanta and continues through Memphis, Indiana, Cleveland and Milwaukee.

Eff that.
He'll play 2 or 3 games then go back on the injury list.
How's Bynum doing?![]()
hopefully greg can stay healthy after this, the team really does miss him.. our rotation is wack without him..
We know when he'll be back. He also got hurt from contact injuries.
Oden is just falling apart. Example # 239,402 why old people should stick to Bingo and shuffleboard.
I actually picked up Oden on the steal in my Fantasy League, and I STILL dropped him because he was dragging me down.
Dude is getting outplayed by Brook Lopez!
I thought Oden retired... isn't he too old to be making another comeback?
Odens knee made contact with maggette's knee that's why he's out.. its not like he was grocery shopping for old people diapers and his back gave out.. his injuries have also been contact this year along with bynums... just means they are both unlucky, glass, and injury prone. But doesn't change the fact the both of their teams need them.
