What, no Bennet Salvatore on that list?
http://www.nba.com/FanNight/fanNightPollThanks.html
Larry Bird 4%
Kobe Bryant 34%
LeBron James 17%
Magic Johnson 5%
Michael Jordan 41%
discuss.
That poll will change over time, 15 years from now lebron james will have 45 % and jordan 10%, magic and bird will be lucky to combine for 1%
I saw this being posted on ISH as well. That poll is a goddamn travesty for two reasons. The first is the fact that NBA.com would even put Kobe and Lebron on that poll (rather then let's say Jordan, Magic, Bird, Duncan, Shaq, Hakeem... etc..). The second is obviously the sad state of the general publics knowledge of the game of Basketball (or perhaps they are all just 15 year olds). Magic at 5% and Bird at 4%??? wtf... WTF!!!
This poll is actually upsetting. It's disgusting.
Just how many truly great shots or performances has Kobe had in the playoffs? I mean the only two games that really stick out are the one against Indiana where he took over when Shaq went out, and then the game where he hit two buzzer beaters against Phoenix. Are there any other ones that people other than Laker and Kobe suckers should commonly know about that perhaps I just can't recall at the moment?
A guy who shoots 40% in the Finals is 2nd on that list over 2 of the most clutch athletes in any sport (Bird and Magic)?
Like I say American NBA fans = morons
as opposed to entire countries that vote for one or two players that are not even near being the best?
Is "Bill Pana" also an american NBA fan?
They left out Yao on purpose. Otherwise you know he would win in a landslide...
Vote or Die.
Bryant????
he hasn't even won a championship(on his own) and choked against the Celtics last year. Bryant???
Jordan, Magic, Bird, and Duncan, in no particular order. At least since the 80's.
Magic and Bird with those low percentages is an atrocity and is a direct result of todays And 1 mixtape tour generation. ing stupid kids.
Name of this girl please. I like this one very much.
It's really nice to se LeBroom on this list. I'm surprised Tracy is not on the list.
Bron has had quite a few nice performances and big shots considering how early he is in his career. He has hit several game winners, assisted on another like 3 or 4 game winners, had arguably the greatest single playoff performance ever against the Pistons in game 5 of 2007, as well as the magnificent performance in game 7 against the Celtics last year.
agreed. My mouth opened wide when I saw Kobe so high on that list. Dude is WEAK in the playoffs...especially in the Finals. And Lebron WAY above Bird and Magic? That's just sickening...absolutely sickening.
Bird is probably the most clutch player ever. I'd rather have him taking the last shot than Jordan.
LeBron & Kobe belong nowhere on this poll. LeBron doesn't have a big enough body of work, and probably the same for Kobe.
as said before...Jordan, Magic, Bird, Duncan, plus others that deserve mention are Bill Russell, Shaq, Isiah Thomas, Reggie Miller (never won a le but he's had an enormous amount of great playoff performances), and Bill Walton for singlehandedly getting Portland a le.
ooh..can't agree with that one though. No one was more clutch than Mike.
John Havlicek, John Stockton, and Isiah should be mentioned. Especially Havlicek. LeBron doesn't belong, though he's been great so far.
i stopped visiting espn, opinions are soooooooo processed and manufactured.... too upsetting ... they have polls like this all the time.
That's like every spurfans excuse for hating espn.
It's neck and neck, but I would take Bird.
