    Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
    Baltimore 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 2 5 0
    Boston 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 2 3 7 1
    Box Score | Play-By-Play
    W: Foulke (4-3) L: Ryan (3-6)
HR: Bal- Lopez (20) Bos- None

Schilling pitches 8 shutout innings and Foulke comes in in the 9th to save the 1-0 lead but gives up a 2 run HR to Javie Lopez to blow Schilling's 21st win of the year.....I am so pissed but still have hope when Boston has runners on 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs, but then McCarty pops up to foul territory at first base and Damon strikes out, so they are down to last out and still have runners stranded at 2nd and 3rd. But Belhorn hits a deep shot to center to score 2 runs and Boston wins.....****....games like this take yrs off my lifespan.

Anaheim lost, too. 5.5 games up in the wild card race. It's getting closer to being a lock. And once the playoffs happen, who knows what can happen.

With Schilling and Pedro at the front of the rotation, they'll have a chance against anyone. The offense is solid. The Yankees lineup is downright scary, too. If they meet in the playoffs, pitching will make all the difference.

BTW, I prefer a rotation of Schilling - Pedro - Bronson - Wakefield in the playoffs. Curt has had the best year. Bronson has been pitching better than Lowe and Wake and he deserves to start third. He's going to come after hitters if nothing else.

Lowe has been disappointing. He should be left off the postseason roster. He has the mental makeup of a three year old.

That remains to be seen. The current Sox squad hasn't played a game against the Yankees when it really mattered.

The Red Sox will need to beat Minnesota in the playoffs and that might not happen. The Twins have owned Boston this year. Boston needed to win the A.L. East and they choked over the weekend.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. Minny certainly stacks up well, even though their offense is a little weaker. Santana has been awesome. Schilling vs. Santana should be a great matchup.

I'd rather play Minny in the first round on the road than play Oakland at home though.

First of all tlong, where do you get off saying Minn owns Boston this year??? Does winning 2 and losing 4 to Boston mean they own them???? Or do you mean that Minn actually owns shares of Boston's corporation? I swear, you just pull right out of your ass half the time, w/o any substantiation whatsoever.

2nd of all, Boston will more than likely play Oakland in rd 1, because they will have better record than Minn at year's end as Minn has tougher schedule and has nothing to play for in last 2 wks of the season, where Oakland has to fend off Anaheim and Texas.

Jim, You IGNORANT ! Minnesota has taken 2 out of 3 from Boston in Boston and in Minnesota. Minny won the series 4 games to 2! Please do not attempt to debate me on issues you know nothing about. Stick to dentistry.

4 one run losses and a 29-21 advantage for Boston in runs does not equate to owning...check your dictionary, tlong.

Would you care to bet that Boston wins against Minn or Oakland in round 1???

The point is, 4 one run wins does not mean you own the other team, the games could have gone the other way with one play made or not made in any of the 4 losses, but the Boston blowouts were Boston domination....it could have easily been 6-0 Boston, but not better than 4-2 Minn...you get the point?

    Jim,

First of all there were not 4 one run games. Minnesota won one of the games by 2 runs, not 1. Second of all if you take two of three games at home and then two of three games in Boston you effectively own the Red Sox. I will bet you that the Giants make the playoffs and the Astros do not. How about that?

    SF is in....

Houston is doing their annual late season choke job, as we speak, while SF is getting in the groove as they have been the past 2 seasons.

Cubs have the easier schedule and the better pitching staff. Cubs will get the wild card spot.

For the Giants to make the playoffs, they will need to catch the Dodgers. That's certainly not out of the question.

My call? Giants win the division, Cubs win the Wild Card.

Cubs do have the Braves for the last 3 games of the reg. season, but the Braves might be resting their starters because they will clinch real soon.
