Official Date for Free Agency to begin

With the NBA draft 2 months away, I was curious to know what the official date of free agency is?

Free Agents become "free" on July 1st and may enter into negotiations on that date. No contract may be signed before July 8th.

Also, teams can make trades once they are out of the play-offs- like the Spurs could today (except for the guys with expiring contracts).

That's interesting. I don't think I can remember a trade happening during the playoffs.
