Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Lee Nailon scored a team-high 16 points off the bench as New Orleans overcame an 18-point deficit to beat undermanned Houston, 76-73, at the Toyota Center.

Also coming off the bench, Dan au had 14 points and six assists, P.J. Brown added 13 points and eight rebounds and Chris Andersen contributed nine points, including five crucial free throws, to go along with his game-high 16 boards in the win.

The Hornets came in with losses in five of six games.

Leading the Rockets, who played without All-Star center Yao Ming, was Tracy McGrady with 21 points on just 5-of-20 shooting. Yao was sidelined with a sore right calf.

With the loss, Houston fell to sixth-place in the Western Conference playoff race, a half game behind Sacramento, which beat Cleveland Friday.

Clarence Weatherspoon set a new season-high with 14 points, while Bob Sura had 11 for the Rockets, who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Houston held an 18-point lead with a little more than three minutes remaining in the third quarter, when New Orleans went on a 23-4 run that ended with the Hornets ahead 61-60 with 6:48 left in the game.

With New Orleans still in front, 67-65, Andersen would hit five of six free throws to give New Orleans a 72-65 advantage with a little more than a minute to play.

Houston pulled to within three points, but Jon Barry's three-pointer at the buzzer came up short.

Holding a five-point edge at halftime, the Rockets extended their advantage to 18 points, 56-38, after a Scott Padgett jumper at the 3:03 mark in the third quarter, setting up the Hornets' comeback.

Both teams struggled offensively early as Houston held a 12-9 lead 10 minutes into the game, before the first quarter ended with the Rockets ahead, 17-11.

New Orleans pulled to within three points several times in the second quarter, but would get no closer as Houston extended its advantage to 33-28 at halftime.
