When a player is traded is exchange of salary based off of his base salary or base salary plus incentives?

For example, Camby's base salary next season is $8 million and his cap number is $10 million because of the $2 million in games-played bonuses he got last season. I know the 10 mil goes against the cap, but does it count when you are trying to trade within 90% of salary?

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that incentives based on games played are always assumed that they will be met for purposes of salary cap and trade rules. So you would use the value of the contract including the incentives.

The player's salary in a trade is base salary + likely incentives.

Bruno, do you know if games played qualifies as a performance incentive, or a academic/physical achievement incentive? Only performance incentives get broken out into "likely" and "unlikely". Academic/physical achievement incentives are always included. I can't find anything that specifies what category games played would fall under.

    I don't know but I would say that it's a performance incentive.

The academic/physical achievement seems to be a bonus if the player participate at some summer leagues, training camps...
