That's just sad

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A Duke University official is accused of offering his 5-year-old adopted son for sex on the Internet, according to the FBI and court do ents in the case.
Frank M. Lombard is the associate director of Duke University's Center for Health Policy.
Frank M. Lombard, 42, was arrested last week at his home in Durham, North Carolina. During an Internet chat, Lombard allegedly offered the child to the person he was chatting with, who was a task force officer from Washington's Metropolitan Police, the FBI said in a statement.
The chat was initiated after a confidential source facing child pornography charges told authorities they had witnessed a man, allegedly Lombard, performing sex acts on a child over the Internet.
During the chat, according to the complaint filed against Lombard, he told the officer that he had performed multiple sex acts on the boy and that the officer could do the same if he came to Durham.
According to a transcript of the chat, reprinted in the complaint, Lombard allegedly told the officer that he had to hide the abuse from his partner and that he drugged the child with allergy medication.
Lombard was arrested June 24, and two children at the home, including the 5-year-old, were removed from the home by the North Carolina Department of Social Services, the FBI said.

Tennessee man charged in 'virtual pornography' case
Lombard is the associate director of Duke University's Center for Health Policy, but was placed on unpaid administrative leave, effective immediately, last week, university spokesman Keith Lawrence said.
The center is described on its Web site as a joint venture among the university's law, business and arts-and-sciences schools and "an instigator and facilitator of a broad range of research related to public health and the policies that address it."
Lombard faces federal child sex abuse charges, which carry a prison sentence of up to 20 years upon conviction, authorities said. He made an initial appearance in federal court in North Carolina but was transferred to Washington to face the charges there, court do ents show.
Attempts to contact the Durham attorney who appeared in court with Lombard were unsuccessful Tuesday.
Federal agents seized Lombard's computer, thumb drives, Web cams and other items when executing a search warrant upon Lombard's arrest, according to court do ents.

I don't think there is a word for this.
I hope they kill the guy slow and painful
If convicted he would have to leave his job at duke and work at utsa.
Yeahh ive read about that, sick son of a b*tch. That's terrible for the kid. Its terrible for all kids who have parents doing these horrible things, but for this kid, he was adopted, he probably already had much problems in his life (if not adopted as a baby though), and then adopted, finally hoping to find a peacefull home, where he can be a child and enjoy life and slowly adapt to his new parents, and then something like this happens. Really horrible and scary, if you think about the fact that you never know for sure how potential parents are for giving a child into their hands. This guy probably looked like a normal man, with a normal job, education etc.. so you would not think he is someone who could be doing such things.

So how can two guys living together adopt 2 young kids?
This was from another story
Federal authorities say Lombard, 42, of 24 Indigo Creek Trail, performed sexual acts on his son and invited an undercover investigator online to fly to North Carolina and do the same.
Lombard owns the home with another man, according to Durham County property records. The pair bought the home, which sits at the end of a narrow path lined with trees and multicolored homes, in May 2007, the records show. The co-owner has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
Is the media so politically correct now that they can't even MENTION in this article that it was a gay couple that apparently adopted these kids and at least one of them apparently did it for the purpose of having sex with them? Is that not pertinent?
I have yet to see anywhere that states these kids as being adopted.
At least in 2009 pederasty is still a crime. I don't hold high hopes for whatever is left of the USA in 2059. I imagine every self-respecting member of the university intelligentsia will have his own catamite by then.
ing NAMBLA s
the first artical
What more do you want? The articles were clear about the fact that it was a male, with a male partner, engaging in sexual activities with a male child. I think the fact that Lombard is a gay male and part of a gay couple is made pretty damned evident.
If, however, you're looking for an extra sentence suggesting that this is the sort of thing that happens when s adopt, then no, I don't think it's pertinent. Neither would I think it necessary to attach a sentence admonishing hetero adoptions if this story had been about a straight couple who adopted a little girl when the husband intended to molest her.
The first article did NOT say anything about Lombard being gay or living with another man. I realize there are sick heterosexual s too, but totally ignoring the fact that a gay man adopted a young boy for the apparent purpose of ing him in the ass is pretty sloppy journalism.
yes it is
Sloppy, probably, but not the end of the world. I think the most important part of the article is that a man adopted a child for the apparent purpose of sexual abuse, and that's all in there. I see the fact that he's in a gay relationship as no more or less important than his age or the fact he lives in Durham. A coincidental fact, but in no way causal or pertinent in any tangible way.
Are you insinuating that a couple is more likely to abuse their child in this manner than a hetero couple?
Because I think the stats would surprise you.
3:1 is my total, random guess.
Well, call me old fashioned but I don't think a gay guy should be allowed to adopt young boys.
Should a straight guy be allowed to adopt a young girl?
Personally I think kids should be placed with "conventional" couples.
To be fair, he did say he had to hide what he was doing to the kid from his partner. Anyway, I'd be wary of giving children to anyone governed almost totally by their sexual orientation as they are likely to have some hangups and be a possible victim of sexual abuse themselves as this molester probably was.
But there's no way you can say that putting children in conventional homes is a guarantee against child abuse. Worse things than this have happened to children in conventional homes.
I'm not saying that conventional homes are 100% safe. I'm saying that being gay is a lifestyle choice. If you want to have kids then choose a conventional heterosexual lifestyle. I just think that allowing gay couples to adopt young kids is wrong for the kids even if they aren't molested.
