Hornets general manager Jeff Bower said through a team spokesman that the club is not shopping center Tyson Chandler.

Chandler has been mentioned in a number of trade rumors this offseason. New Orleans tried to trade Chandler to Oklahoma City in February, but the Thunder balked after the center's physical.

Bower didn't rule out the possibility that teams would call about Chandler, and there is a chance that the Hornets could land a free agent through a sign-and-trade.

The Arizona Republic reported on its Web site Friday that the Suns are also in the midst of contract buyout talks with Ben Wallace that would pay Wallace roughly $10 million of his $14 million salary next season. Such a buyout would save Phoenix some $8 million when including luxury-tax payments but would also rule out the Suns' ability to use Wallace's contract to trade for New Orleans center Tyson Chandler.

Chandler is the sort of mobile big man, when healthy, that Nash has said Phoenix needed. But taking on Chandler's contract, which expires in 2010-11, would restore some of the same cap problems that Phoenix had when O'Neal was still on its books.

Ha, I'd buy that for a dollar. I'd be willing to bet that they're still quietly shopping him, they just don't have a lot of faith in finding a taker. In the mean time it does them no damn good to publicly state that they want the guy gone all summer and have him come to camp pissed off already. After the physical fiasco killed the last trade I'd say there best bet at finding a new home for him is to keep him happy and motivated during the first half of the season, pray that he stays healthy, and see if a deadline deal can be made.
