Not surprising.
The Atlanta Hawks and restricted free-agent forward Marvin Williams(notes) reached an agreement to a five-year contract worth about $40 million on Wednesday, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

If that will end up being the actual amount, that's a decent deal for both sides. Marvin wasn't going to get more than that in free agency this summer, and by NBA standards, he's probably worth roughly that. Hawks probably overpaid a little more than they had to, but while it's not a bargain price, it's pretty reasonable.
But too bad they aren't paying $40 million over 5 years to either Chris Paul or Deron Williams.
I know right. Marvin is a good player, but in this economy, only an all-star/border-line all-star is worth that kind of $$$. But it's not like he's being wayyy overpaid.....
