No Problem
Great article about "weighted" age.

Awesome. I thought of the idea of weighted ages in june or july, but mad props to Silva for putting it together. Hope 3 of Hill, Blair, Hairston, Mahinmi, and Williams are in the 10-man rotation to bring the Spurs weighted average down. If 4 of them do, I can't to see what the Spurs' weighted avg to end the year is.
I'd be shocked if Hill doesn't average more than 12 MPG, same with Blair at 10..
our age is fine IMO, assuming Hill and Blair get good minutes..
if Hairston or Williams can show enough to take over for Finley, which is no guarantee obviously, then that would make the age/athleticism ideal for this team..
And here we were starting to get worried that the spurs got too young.![]()
Hill will play more than last year and I hope someone can take over for Finley.
Very interesting article. Thanks for posting!
I did not want to underestimate the Spurs' average age so I was very conservative with the younger players. We are loaded at the 2 and 3 positions and I think Pop will want to get Mason some significant minutes. Given that he played backup pg for us at the end of last season, I think Hill might have some minutes stolen by Mason. And until we see how Blair's knees handle the rigors of the NBA, I did not want to give him 18 or so in my forecast. The NBA season is very long and he will not be going up against mediocre, undersized college centers. Let's see how he responds to a 6'10-7'2 guy every other night before we anoint him with minutes. I am very hopeful he does well though. The guy can rebound.
Well considering Hill played about 16 min a game last year and Pop said himself he was sorry for not playing him more, I think Hill will average more then 12 min. Great Article though btw.
What would we do without statisticians to make our lives simple and interesting. I like anything I hear that is positive about the team and the age, etc.
Otherwise may they all drown in a lake that averages two inches deep.
Props to youto have put together all this information !
Ya I understand why you did it, it's obviously better to be conservative at this point..nice research though..
I'm too lazy for that many charts and reading
great read - thanks for posting
Thanks for all the compliments Spurs people. I'm glad y'all enjoyed it.
look at the Lakers 3 year reign. Every year they got younger. Maybe a reason why Spurs didn't repeat? every year after they won it they were older.
interesting thing is I think lakers this year are older than last year so if we go by logic, they will have a hard time repeating.
Well, the Lakers definitely got older. They essentially exchanged a 23 year-old somewhat sane Ariza for a 29 year-old certifiably insane Artest.
this is pretty impressive. i usually get turned off by numbers geeks like hollinger but silva's actually mixes his numbers and overall argument here in a very persuasive manner.
no bogans? he is going to get minutes before the likes of marcus williams, hariston, most likely haislip, and possibly finley towards the end of the year
I derived the stats before we picked up Bogans and forgot to add him. But regardless, he is 29, which is basically the '09-'10 weighted average. So he would not have a noticeable impact on the data.
yea he def isnt going to tip the scale one way or the other.agree with others that hill and blair can fall into more minutes than that, but it is gonna be feirce compe ion to fill in the minutes behind the big 4, dice and mason.
Wow. That took time. Cool read.
I'm sure one of our young guys will see more minutes, I just have no idea which one it will be. For the purposes of this article, I wanted to be as conservative as possible and, if anything, overestimate the Spurs' weighted age to avoid any claims that my argument was invalid.
