A easy question.
Should a police officer ask for a id if they think someone is driving underage?Sitting at a traffic light next to another driver who looks to them 13. What should the Police officer do?
are you the tlong of the politics forum?
e strip the little . Ask questions later.
IMHO.
I think we should clarify. Are these underage drivers real or imaginary? Are they Salvadorian?
This is a question NO civil rights advocate will answer. It's yes or no. A simple question. A police officer thinks the person driving next to him is 13. Should he pull the car over to check things out?![]()
no, because if theyre really 13 it should be easy as to pull them over for a traffic stop
police do it and say it all the time, if they want to pull someone over, theyll follow them until it can be argued that they might have broken a traffic law
That is not a simple yes or no.![]()
the answer is no
?
What should the Police officer do?
It ok in your book for a 13 year old to drive.Let the 13 year old drink, vote, go to strip bars and fight in wars! Parents shouldn't be held responsible for 13 years old. We shouldn't ask for ID. I guess if a 13 year old s a 40 year old it's ok. Why have laws, why have police. That is what you are saying.
Did you narc on the kid, jack?
I'm still waiting on confirmation this was a real underage age driver and not an imaginary one.
im 30 and look young for my age. when i got my D.L. i prob looked 12. anyway i got pulled over when i was 16 and before the cop ever came to my vehicle there were 6 other squad cars there. so he said i looked too young to be driving, i gave him my DL which he took back to his car for 2o minutes while i sat there with 10 cop cars, lights on, all around me. he came back laughing and said sorry have a nice day.
I would think the cop would have better things to do than pull over a 13 year old. However, since there's a good chance the car is 'borrowed' from the parents, or stolen, I wouldn't have too much of a problem with him pulling the kid over.
You would think everyone would think that way. You would think if a neighbor called the police because they thought someone was breaking into a house the cop should be able to ask for ID when they get to the house with out national incident. AKA beer summit.
i'd pull him over and tell him he'll never be a wide receiver if he doesn't exercise.
fixed. and if the cop has reason to believe the person is violating the laws (i.e. driving underage), he should pull him/her over and investigate. The investigation should take all of three minutes.

Fixed. I like your thinking son. I doubt it would even take 3 minutes.
Yes, but technically you don't have to show a police officer an ID, and depending on the cir stances, not even your name.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/06/24/do....id/index.html
And the decision that you have to give your name? It was only approved by a slim 5-4 majority. All nine justices agreed that a person who is not behaving in a way that gives rise to an articulable su ion of criminality may not be required to state his name or show identification.
Was the guy a hole? Sure. But he's within his rights.
Edit: An example of how it works is provided later..
Interestingly, Justice Kennedy's response to Justice Breyer's Fourth Amendment objections made his argument somewhat more vulnerable to the Fifth Amendment objections posed by Justice Stevens. Suppose one agrees with Justice Kennedy that the requirement that a suspect identify himself is indeed justified on the ground that his iden y is relevant to determining whether he has engaged in criminal conduct. On that assumption, the requirement to identify oneself (or be prosecuted) appears to be a requirement that the suspect not just identify himself but in the process incriminate himself -- in violation of the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
Is the driver black?
You know those black kids already drive faster because of reverse discrimination and stereotyping in grade school.
how is this a trick question?
Driving while 13 is illegal. Driving while Black is not.
lame.
WTF........Who said the driver was black, white, Asian, Mexican, French, Russian, Indian, etc.... WTF?
why are you referring to civil rights advocates in this thread?
Because freaks like you will pick a race. In your case dumbass you choose black! ing racist.
Jack, you were the first one who brought up race in this thread when you brought up the "Beer Get-Together" incident.
