YahooSportsNBA Lamarcus Aldridge extension could reach $70 million with incentives, but assures him between $65-$68 million over five seasons with Portland
Pretty pricey. At least he's locked up.
Only 14M, guess they did not think he was worth max money either.
wow thats a bit much but then again if you dont sign him he is gone
Too bad this doesn't make him any less soft.
Aren't you a portland st. alum? Udoka was your only NBA player.
Now He's gone. But at least you got the big "A".
I dont think hes worth that money, but going by market value he probably got the right amount of money.
Portland had two big chances to add a proven star to the team. They could have traded Raef's expiring contract at the deadline last season and they did nothing. They had the money to pursue a player like Odom, which would have improved their team AND weakened the champs, this summer and instead settled for Miller.
Now they've overpaid LA, who I've really liked since first seeing him at UT, when they could have signed Odom and let Aldridge hit restricted FA. Since they probably gave Aldridge about 80% of the max, there was very little to lose by letting him hit the market. At worst, they would be able to match a slightly larger deal.
All the gushing over Pritchard has been a bit much. All he has done so far is overseen the ac ulation of assets after the team was totally dismantled. The verdict on his single biggest decision, Oden over Durant, is still out. Now there will be no more lottery picks and they have missed their one shot at adding anything more than an MLE player thru free agency.
Let's see how he does now.
