It is an ugly breed, but for some reason I find it endearing.

What are your opinions on Pugs?

I know they are supposed to make good family dogs, but could be difficult to train. Anyone here with experience to help me out before I buy one? I also have a 9 month old daughter.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of Pugs, but if they are a good breed. Go for it!

I think they're cute. But I've heard all those flat face dogs aren't very smart or very healthy.

I love dogs, but if there were one pure-breed I wouldn't want to own, pugs would be pretty high on my list. I've never met a pug that I liked. Plus, listening to them breathe is terrible. Do you really want to listen to some wheezing snuffler for the next decade?

They snuffle and snore a lot and they are a bit jealous, bit of a one-man type of canine. You need to be prepared to take particular care of their eyes too.

They don't like the heat and they soon get tired of walking, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak! Other than that they're fine.

Pugs were trained for pit fighting, hence the name pugs. It is short for pit thugs. The dogs were bred for fighting and you cannot take that out of them.

If I had a house with a yard then I would get a full size dog.

Schnauzer (and I admit I had to look that up). Easjer and I have one.

As a breed they are prone to dry skin and they bark more than most. However they are also pretty smart, easy to train, generally mellow, and adaptable to whatever daily routine your life and schedule dictate.

Oh for sure. My dobey is the smartest, sweetest dog I've ever known. The min pins are one of the best looking dogs there is, but as far as hyper and yappy, a chihuahua is more mellow

My female Pit is on her last legs, probably less than a year she's 11 which is ancient for a Pit. Our next dog will be small so we can take her when we travel which we do a lot. Thinking of a Min Pin or Chiuahah

If you have a yard, get the Min Pin---they really need it. My chihuahua travels real well, my dobey gets car sick.

Why buy a dog when you can rescue one from the Humane Society or ACS? There's a lot of dogs, even pugs, currently in shelters looking for homes.

nice bro, i mean any dog you get you'll love but a pug--hmm, not my first pic. But im biased I love big dogs, my parents have a 25lber now and i like him but you know never compares to the Great Dane guy we had who was 160 lbs. Best dog ever. Heres what i think

Little dog- pugs are cute, king charles spaniel (well anything besides a poodle)
middle dog- golden retriever-black lab-white lab-well pretty much any lab
    large dog-great dane

    MVP-great danes are amazing
