Hey, so I'm interested in the direct to TV options. I am assuming I need to buy some ssort of equipment to get it to TV? I have a wifi network, so I can do it that way.
Does it work well?
Can you play the movies and stop and rewind, etc?
Is it worth it?
What are some good devices to get?
Is there a better service than Netflix?
I think you need the cord to connect it to your TV (HDMI?). They don't stream all movies (it's a pretty limited selection) and depending on your subscription level you'll run out of time. It happened to me once when i wanted to watch the first season on 30 rock and I ran out of streaming time after the 2nd DVD. I'm only on a one movie at a time rental though.
I considered getting that Roku thing, it seems to work well. But then I decided there was no reason to buy another device with 5 computers in the house. So I just had one hooked up to my tv (I don't know how it was done) and it works fine. I like the selection of "watch now" movies they have---I've never run out of time. I know many people watch the movies thru a blu-ray player or some games consoles---I don't know which ones, but it makes sense to get the most versatile device I think.
Can you burn stuff off of hulu and whatnot and watch it on something or do they just stream and not actually dl?
Have a PS3? Netflix is starting to send out discs that allow streaming to your PS3.
For the price, you really can't beat everything you get from this big, little console.
There is no limitations to your streaming. YOu can get netflix with a ps3, xbox360 and select blu ray players, its pretty awesome, the selection is not limited if you call over 20,000 movies and tv shows limited, if you have an hdtv many streams will come in at hd resolutions.

i dont have "direct to tv"...but does that use the same selection as the "watch instanly from your computer"? If it is...you might be disappointed on the selection. I barely watch the instant moves cuz they are so old.
Dude whens the last time you watched there are plenty of gems in the streaming movies.

i check it out weekly...lots of good TV shows on it...but new movies...maybe 1 out of every 30 new releases show up streaming
The streaming selection ain't great for new releases but there's a lot on there you can stream. If it's not available for streaming, you have to wait, what, 2 days in the mail? I always get dvd's 2 days after I mail the old ones back, except if that 2nd day is Sunday.
I have my pc hooked up to both my monitor and tv so if I want to stream a movie or tv show I watch it on my tv. For the monthly price, it's awesome.

My fiance burns every movie that comes in from netflix, half the time she gets a movie in, burns it and drops it in mail same day.
I have heard, as well, the one drawback is that the movie selection is not nearly as current as it could be.
Stupid tag-along q; if I bought a wifi bluray, do blurays play regular DVDs as well?
yah..and some blu ray players upgrade the dvd to 1080
it's pretty damn hard to get a popular blu-ray within a few weeks of release on netflix too, unless you had it queued well before hand.
Simple fix: Queue it up when the movie comes out.
Also, using a site like VideoETA will remind you of movies coming out in the next few months that you may have forgotten about.

I tried that but ended up waiting 2-3 weeks sometimes anyway. I ended up dropping it and getting 720p rips off the newsgroups.

Well, that'll get a pretty quick cancellation from a ton of subs.
I've never had to wait more than three days for new releases.
I bought a bluray today, that plainly said 'wireless ready' on box. Unfortunately I get home and it lied, because it says I have to buy an 80 dollar wifi lan adapter to get the signal. What a POS; I'm taking it back tmrw.
