Did anyone catch that monster FLOP by Derek Fisher at 5:15 in the 2nd quarter of the Laker-Nugget game last night taking away a sure fast break dunk by Carmelo Anthony.
Announcer: "That was a beautiful fake by Derek Fisher on that push off by Carmelo Anthony. He's gotta go back to the bench obviously."
For all the rah-rah that spurs fans hear about Ginobili and hornets fans hear about Chris Paul, I find it odd that Derek Fisher somehow never gets mentioned in the list of biggest floppers.
To me, this guy is head and shoulders the all-time KING of flopping and all around subterfuge and it amazes me that even to this day that these "veterans" of officiating still fall for all of his bag of bull tricks which he's been using for well over a decade now. What a friggin' joke, bring back the replacement refs already....
He doesn't get mentioned on the list because he's the best flopper there is. Fisher makes all his flops look like good hustle plays and then acts the victim part perfectly. Pro status.
That's not to say Ginobili doesn't flop more, because he certainly flops more than Fisher. Nose just sucks at it. Much like Chris Paul.

fisher is a pretty good flopper, true, but that offensive fould on billups was a legit call. blame kenyon marton for not telling billups that fisher was waiting for a charge. billups took that ball and collided with fisher. that was smart ball from fisher.
Fisher is an interesting cat. You want to like him. He seems like a great respectable professional.
But then you remember the real Fisher. The evil monster that pulled the trigger on that devastating shot years ago. The one that used his little girl to get back to L.A. The flopper.

Most guys flop occassionally (Paul, Ginobili, Varejao, etc) and some get away with it more than others.
And then there's a guy in his own special class of floppers, Derek Fisher.
Derek Fisher deserves a special dedicated thread because of the alarming frequency of his flops (every game practically), and the rate that he gets away with it (100% success rate). The officials literally fall hook, line, and sinker every time and I truly don't understand why. His flops are so over the top from the minimal contact he recieves... its downright baffling why these so called "veterans" of officiating have been falling for his shenanigans for the better part of a decade.
It truly either A) speaks of their incredible inep ude, or B)speaks of their crookedness.
This guy has single handedly degraded the the game more than any other player to ever play IMO.
He's just not quick enough to flop on Brooks anymore...

That flop on Boozer was hilarious. Horry fell over like a ton of bricks.
Players flop because the refs reward them for it. You want to stop flopping, have the refs make calls where the offensive player aggressively bumps into the defender.
If they would not have allowed snack, barkley to dislodge defenders half of this wouldn't occur. If you hold your ground you NEVER get the call and the offensive guy just muscles you out of the way.
I'm all for flopping until the refs begin to call more offensive calls.
