at least it reminds me of it......remember Boykins and Najera playing well and it pissed me off but at least they shut Andre Miller down(hated him for lighting it up in Gm1 the previous season)
I was really pumped after that game. The actual performance wasn't amazing but I thought the team got really deep. Michael Finley was a nice upgrade over Devin Brown. I actually thought Beno didn't need to be replaced by Van Exel...but why not? and since it's proved Beno didn't have much to give anyway....(though i still wonder if the benching messed up his game? he looked promising year 1)
And didn't Oberto play a decent amount of minutes opening night? I was really pumped for him, I remember (now foolishly)claiming that he was gonna be like Rodman(defense/rebounding/ugly) but taller and without the circus factor. It was a bummer he didn't play much that first year. Man, our rotations got ED UP by the end of the year. That season really goes down as the most tragic in my book. More painful than .4. I really thought that was gonna FINALLY be the back-2-back year. REALLY.
I was overseas during the end of the season and start of postseason. I was waking up early in the morning to watch the gamecasts on nba.com
Being that all I could see was shot-charts and box scores with a little description all I could do was imagine what the plays looked like. The Sacramento series was scary cause all I could do was imagine Artest roughing up Manu. I was geniunely frightened before and during Game 5.
...then the article explaining how little time the Spurs had between Game 6 in Sacramento and Game 1 in San Antonio vs Dallas. man, that whole thing just sucked. I got back to the states a few hours before game 4 and fought really hard to stay awake. I don't wanna write any more, you know the story...but goddamn that Boykins photo reminded me of '06. I ing hate that year so much. so ing much.
