We decided to hike the South Rim Trail. It's about 13 miles or so round-trip, and the views at the end are amazing. Here's a cool view called The Window from near the beginning of the Laguna Meadows Trail (which leads to the South Rim Trail).

A couple of weeks ago I went out to Big Bend with my boy 4down and his brother. Here's some pics from the trip:
Here's a shot of sunrise at Big Bend

Aweome pics. That's one area of Texas I definitely plan on visiting, but not in the summer.
Another shot of The Window. Note there is also a cool trail called the Windows Trail completely different from that. I know MannyIsGod posted some cool pics from it a while back, with lots of bears on it. As a side note, there was a 500-600lb black bear, possibly looking for food or employment, in our camp near the beginning of the Window Trail the next morning.

EDIT: double-post

First shot of Emory Peak in the morning (I think it's Emory Peak).

Nice view looking west on the Laguna Meadows Trail

Check out the color change on the trees. I think this is near where the Laguna Meadows, Colima, and South Rim Trails meet.

Another shot from the same place

First view towards the mountains of Mexico, as Jennifer Broome would say (Mexico's way in the distance though)

We saw tons of deer feeding on trees at the South Rim Trail. Here's one.

^^^ Damn, that deer looks skinny.![]()
I believe this is Santa Elena Canyon in the distance (more on that later)

Finally made it to the South Rim (what a cool place). I never thought I'd find anything in Texas that could compete with my favorite hikes in Cali, but this is by far one of the coolest views I have ever seen with my own eyes.

Looking the other direction at the South Rim

I love the shape of this mountain; it looks like a Smurf's hat.

I wish I knew the names of these peaks, but I don't know Big Bend that well.

A cool pic looking southwest from the South Rim. Notice the coyote ears at the top right of the pic!

Another shot from the same area. Check how bright the lichens on the side of cliff face are!
Another shot of the bright-ass lichens (and my knee)
This picture does a terrible job conveying the distance down. It's probably 2000-2500 feet down, and anyone who has ever been there can tell you the cliff face is pretty sheer.

Did you draw those or take them with the tiest camera you could find?
A shot looking down I took sitting on the edge. Those are size 13 boots, ladies.

Blow me troll. Nothing I can do about haze in the air.
Shot of me sitting on the edge of the South Rim
