What banner?
It's nice but I agree, it slows things down quite a bit. I've had to click where it says "don't show images" on my user profile just to speed up stuff, but nothing.
I use Firefox and it didnt' work there. So I went to Internet Explorer..and it worked.

I use FF too, and works well.
It's about a 1.7 MB animated GIF. I like the banner, but I agree it would suck on a slow connection or a computer without a lot of RAM.

I'll see what we can do to make it not slow down for you guys so much.
LJ will make an alternate skin that you can use if you are on dial up that doesn't have the animation. We'll tell you guys about it as soon as it's ready (sometime this weekend).

That's almost a 4 1/2 minute download at best on a dialup connection.
That's incorrect. It works within a minute for a lot of people that have dialup.
Manny probably has the file cached, people should look to do that as it will stop the downloading on every page.
It won't however eleviate RAM usage.
Well either way, like I said earlier in this thead. We will make an option for users to pick an alternate skin with no animation.
yeah, it's cached. Man, you have to do that on dialup or every page on the net now will take 2 years to load everytime you vist it.
An alternative will be appreciated.
It only appears on some pages for me, but I have a very difficult time typing in the textbox on those pages. I'll type but the words won't appear until a couple of seconds later. It's making it very difficult to reply.
