I'm not sure if the NBA has seriously considered doing this, but I was thinking they should do it.
Basically.
- remove the names "East vs West" team names
- Add rules - must have played at least x amount of minutes
- Change the theme to something like "1st team vs 2nd team" and make it an underdog theme.
- Remove the conference restriction, so that Western conference Point Guards like Chris Paul could play on the 2nd team, instead of being snubbed because there are too many guards in the West.
- The top vote getters at each position go to 1st team, and the 2nd most go to 2nd team, etc..
This would make a feeling of 'Yeah boy, I'm on the 1st team. We're the kings, we're better than you' and possibly motivate the 2nd team to feel like 'underdogs' and disrespected and actually want to win the game.
so now the teams would be 1st team vs 2nd team, according to voting, and not conference.
So, as an example, according to this year's votes so far :
1st Team
PG - Steve Nash
SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - LeBron James
PF - Kevin Garnett
C - Dwight Howard
Reserves :
Gilbert Arenas, Vince Carter, Kevin Durant, Tim Duncan, Andrew Bynum
VS
2nd team
PG - Chris Paul
SG - Dwyane Wade
SF - Carmelo Anthony
PF - Dirk Nowitzki
C - Amare Stoudemire
Reserves :
Jason Kidd, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Pau Gasol, Shaquille O'Neal
---------------------------------
the 2nd team wouldn't want to feel inferior, so they'd probably try harder to show up the '1st team' because they are up against the player that the fans think is better than you. The way it is set up now, the person who beat you is on your team cause it's conference restricted.
to be honest, I'd love to see the 2nd team up there and root for em
so what do you think?
