Could've been in '03 if not for the Spurs. But the past is past. Maybe this is the year that they engage in a playoff series after a long time of waiting.
I was just thinking about this because Lakers and Mavericks were good teams and in the playoffs just about every year. And Lakeshow never met up with the Mav's in the playoffs once, kind've crazy that we didnt face them even once. Would've been fun to see

That is a little weird.
Mavs never met the Lakers
Suns never met the Jazz
Rockets never met the Spurs
Yet... the Suns and Spurs met 5 times this decade, 4-1 in the Spurs' favor. Lakers and Spurs met 5 times, as well, 4-1 in the Lakers' favor.
Because when the Mavs were dominant 05/06/07 the Lakers sucked.
07 they lost in the 1st round just like us. And we were dominant in 00-04,08-09 and they sucked
We were close to facing them in 07. Lakers started nicely with a flurry of home games but just dragged themselves to the 7th seed in that year.
07 is an exception, they were a 67 win team. Any team that wins 67 is dominant IMO.
I'd like to see a Mavs/Lakers series however, this board would be very interesting.
I was thinking about this the other day.
Mavs always had to face off against Sacramento or SA and usually lost the series and the winner would go on and face LA. The one time we topped Sacramento, LA lost to the Spurs
The Lakeshow have eliminated pretty much every WC team (except the bottom feeders who never make it) atleast one time. Dallas is the one exception
Mavericks were the only team besides the Lakers to beat Duncan and the Spurs in the playoffs in the 2000s. 2000 doesn't count because Duncan did was hurt and did not play in the playoffs that year. I know the Mavs lost the 2006 Finals but besides the Spurs and Lakers, they were the only other team to come out of the West in the 2000s. 3 teams in one decade.
